Concept and Functionality
The basic idea behind My Diet looks something like this: Considering your already healthy (or getting healthier) lifestyle, there’s not much need for complex training manuals in an app form. In fact, My Diet works off the principal thought that providing you with a place to track your weight gains and losses is enough to keep you motivated.
With that in mind, the app will remind you once daily (or whenever you tell it to, really) that you need to weigh-in. After that, you simply tell the application where you clocked in, and it’ll do the rest. It’s that simple! My Diet will track your progress over a period of days, weeks, and months, and then you can easily and simply see the results at any time. Want to track you and your spouse’s progress together? Just create a new user! Each user has its own graph, as well as its own reminders. This makes it simple to have the app serve as a reinforcer, and also to rope someone else into your weight gain or loss program. And as we all know, social reinforcement is the best reinforcement.
Graphics and Design
Overall, we hardly have anything to complain about where the design of My Diet is concerned. It’s a good looking application with simple controls, an easy to manage interface and gorgeous controls. All in all, we think it’s a stunning effort in the design department.
Still, there are a lot of additional gidgets and gizmos we’d like to see integration with. The simplicity of My Diet is what makes it unique, but adding support for any of the dozen different Bluetooth devices that help you exercise and slim up would be a phenomenal boon. Still, there’s plenty of room in future updates for these improvements.
And at the end of the day, My Diet will hardly break the bank with its pricing. The app costs only a dollar in the App Store, which makes it a real bargain. No matter if you’re looking to gain some muscle mass or put away the fatty pounds, My Diet is a quick and simplistic solution to your exercising needs—and at a price that won’t break the bank!
My Diet: Control your body requires iOS 6.0 or later and is compatible with iPhone, iPad, and iPod Touch. A small expedite fee was paid to speed up the publication of this review.
