Larky: Written iPhone App Review
It’s the beginning of a new year, which means (among many other things, of course) that we’re seeing a fresh wave of startups appearing out of the woodwork. However, none of these fresh offerings has captured our attention quite like Larky has. The app offers a very intuitive, inventive, and cost-efficient idea—one that also happens to make your daily life easier. If you’re a member of any rewards program, you really owe it to yourself to checkout the app. And there’s no better place to start then with our full review contained below!
Concept and Functionality
The concept behind Larky is a fresh wave of innovation in a sea of Facebook clones—and we can’t quite express how happy we are about this. Essentially, the app allows you to save money without trying, which is a solid way to sell any idea. However, the app makes it so incredibly simple that it’s just downright unbelievable.
The concept looks like this: The app is aware of the benefits associated with more than several thousand organizations. These range from your Apple Store all the way down to your local Safeway—that’s our local grocer. You sign up for Larky, then tell it what programs you’re associated with. And that’s it! You can enter card information if you want, or you can let the app run in the background and alert you whenever you’re near a location that’s associated with one of your benefit programs. You’d be surprised what discounts you’re not cashing in. We certainly were, and we honestly aren’t a part of that many networks. In other words, the app will let you know when you could be saving money, and without you hardly lifting a finger. It’s an incredible idea, and as future updates refine the data stored here, we hardly see a reason why it won’t become even more miraculous.
Graphics and Design
As graphic designers ourselves, we feel inclined to say this on the front-end: Larky is one incredibly good looking brand, and the mobile app only improves from there. The interface is gorgeous from top to bottom, and comes loaded with a lot of the sliding UI elements and simple controls we’ve come to expect from future classics. It takes a matter of seconds (we really mean that) to sign up and tell the app what networks you want to track. This is an incredible achievement, and when you stop to break it down, the value of this cannot be understated. Good design is alive and well with Larky.
Best of all, the app is completely free in the App Store. So we’ll put it to you this way: Larky is free to use, saves you a lot of money, is fun to discover, and beyond easy on the eyes. Keeping all of this in mind, there’s literally no reason not to give it a go. As such, it earns a perfect five out of five from us, as well as our highest recommendation.
(Editor’s Note: Correction, the developer would like to point out that the organizations they work with range from associations like AAA and AARP to credit cards, health insurance providers, museum memberships, zoo memberships and more.)
Larky requires iOS 5.0 or later and is compatible with iPhone, iPad, and iPod Touch. A small expedite fee was paid to speed up the publication of this review.
