Your Time Is Money: Written iPhone App Review
If you’re like us, you spend an awful lot of your time sitting around in client meetings, talking out the latest options and suggesting the next big plan of attack. If you’re also like us, you have a rather difficult time tracking all of the billable hours you’re racking up. With that in mind, may we now humbly present to you Your Time is Money be developer Loaded Response. The app makes it incredibly simple to both track and report the time you spend on the clock with your clients: And all from the tasty convenience of your iPhone! For our full review, you need only to slide on down below the break.
Concept and Functionality
At its root, the basic idea behind the app looks something like this: When you first boot up Your Time is Money, the app will ask you about two things. It will firstly need your national currency, which you can type in with only two taps of a button. From there, it’ll want to know how much you charge by the hour. This too can be entered simply, and from there, all of the hard work is done!
The app will instantly begin rolling away with its own internal clock whenever you tell it you’re working. It’ll slowly track the time, and will also automagically calculate how much money you’ve made during this time. Now, over the years we’ve used a number of various time tracking softwares. However, we have yet to see one that actually tallies up how much money you’re making as you make it. This is really cool (honestly, it is) and now we wonder why all time tracking clocks don’t do this. At the very least, it’s a stellar motivator.
Design and Layout
Here’s the thing about Your Time is Money: The app is incredibly simple, which is a tremendous boon. Everything you need is laid out right where you need it. Email or SMS exporting is a single click away, as is stopping or starting the time clock. However, the downside to all of this is that Your Time is Money is itself simplistic. There’s no complex charting of billable versus non-billable hours, nor database records to keep up with. For those of us who need these items, that’s a tremendous disadvantage. However, for those who simply need a quick way to track a meeting, this is beyond ideal.
We don’t get to say this often, but this here is an app involving your money that actually won’t cost you any of it! Yes, ladies and gents, Your Time is Money is completely free in the App Store. That’s a tremendous bargain, and if you’re looking for just such a utility, this is easily the way to go. All in all, Your Time is Money earns a solid recommendation for its good looks and digital charm.
