Wave Alarm—Motion Control Alarm Clock: Written iPhone App Review
Wave Alarm—Motion Control Alarm Clock is a unique app developed by Augmented Minds that enables iOS users to turn off their alarm clocks with just a wave of their hands. This app is completely free and is designed to eliminate any frustrating fumbling with your alarm clock that might typically occur during the early morning hours. However, it should be noted that Wave Alarm does not function if the device is in sleep mode.
Wave Alarm—Motion Control Alarm Clock’s features are exactly what its name implies. That is, this app features an alarm clock that can be commanded to “snooze” or be turned off with just the wave of your hand. Therefore, Wave Alarm is an ideal alarm clock system for anyone who has fumbling “morning fingers” when he tries to control his alarm clock in the mornings. In addition to featuring this unique motion-controlled alarm clock system, Wave Alarm displays weather information as long as a user has decided to allow the “use location” feature on his iOS device. In order for Wave Alarm to actually do its job, a user’s iOS device must have a front-facing camera (so that the waving motion can actually be detected), and the app must be running in the foreground. Other features of Wave Alarm—Motion Control Alarm Clock include 10 different alarm sounds, as well as the ability to set song alarms from your iTunes music library. Background alarms are also an option, in order to help prevent you from oversleeping.
Appearance and Layout:
The interface of Wave Alarm leaves no room for complaints. It is a well-designed app, with more than adequate graphics, particularly for a free app of its type. Wave Alarm is easy to set up and use. The home screen of this app features a basic clock and a settings icon leads users to personalize their Wave Alarm features. I found the order of these settings steps to be simple and logical, and setting up my alarm clock took less than a couple of minutes. The time displayed on the alarm clock/main screen of Wave Alarm is also easy to read, an important factor for any alarm clock apps.
Wave Alarm—Motion Control Alarm Clock is a free app, and at this rate there really is no reason to complain about its “price.” However, for anyone who struggles with sleeping in past his alarm clock too often, Wave Alarm—Motion Control Alarm Clock might not be the best app to use, as it might only make sleeping in even easier. (Although, if one remembers to set “background alarms,” then this oversleeping issue might be taken care of.)
Wave Alarm—Motion Control Alarm Clock iPhone app requires iOS 5.0 or later and is compatible with iPhone, iPod Touch, and iPad. A small expedite fee was paid to speed up the publication of this review.
