Stitch: Written & Video iPhone App Review

Reviewed by Philip Chan

Ever wanted to take the neat effects in many iOS photograph apps and apply them to a presentation or video? Now you can, with Stitch. Released from developer Klablab, Stich is available for devices running iOS 5.0 or later. Stick with us as we take a look at Stitch on the iOS!

Here is the basic idea behind Stich: Choose from several templates, select the effect you want, edit your slides, preview it, hit ‘finish’, export the presentation, and boom-new presentation created. It’s a very simple presentation-making process, made all the easier by the myriad of excellent templates included in Stitch. These templates cover a wide variety of subjects, allowing the user to choose the perfect one to fit most topics (Lab Report, Advertisement, Ask Out, Birthday, etc). Next, there are several ‘themes’ (think of them as Instagram-style editing effects) that may be applied to the template. These look really great and help set Stitch apart from more dull presentation apps. Once both these are chosen, the user gets to add in text, images, and more, with the easy editing tool. I was impressed just how simple it was to add slides, text, and photos all with the tap of my finger. Stitch states that presentation creation shouldn’t take longer than 5 minutes-I would estimate that it takes a little longer, based on how in-depth you are getting to your topic, but it certainly is an easy process. Once complete, the presentation is exported in video format (.mp4), allowing you to share it via online or at your next presentation. Bear in mind that the export/finalization process can take several minutes, depending on the speed of your device. Stitch offers a remarkably polished process for the easy creation of unique presentations on the iOS!

Graphical Layout:
Stitch looks fantastic on iOS. The layout is superb, with clear-cut instructions on how to quickly create presentations, and awesome photo import options (you can import from Google Images, Instagram, your iOS album, or straight from your camera). The editing buttons are just right for the iOS screen size and the finalized products, in video form, look great. The entire app absolutely smacks of polished design, and it’s a great site to see on the iPod Touch, iPhone or iPad.

If you have ever considered making a presentation unlike any other, especially unlike the drab, typical Powerpoint ones, please take a look into Stitch. It’s a very creative app and it offers a powerful, yet simplistic method of creating unique presentations, all through an iOS device. Now Stitch is free, however, it will have a watermark on it’s presentations until you purchase the full, $4.99 version, which is a little bit of a downer. It’s such a neat tool that I’d love to see it on Macs and PCs as well-it’s quite different, in a good way, from Powerpoint. Think of Stitch as a fun alternative to Powerpoint, with unique filters and effects that are reminiscent of Instagram, but for presentations. Check out Stitch on iTunes today!

Stitch iPhone app requires iOS 5.0 or later and is compatible with iPhone, iPod Touch, and iPad devices. A small expedite fee was paid to speed up the publication of this review, as well as a video production fee.
