Pentis Pro HD: Written iPhone App Review
Pentis Pro HD is an application available for the iPhone, iPod Touch, and iPad. Pentis Pro HD is essentially the same as Tetris. The game has a much more different feel than Tetris as well as a different interface. One of the best things about Pentis Pro HD is that there are a lot of settings that you can play around with, and even some interesting features and controls. I’ll get into that more below. But the main thing is that Pentis Pro HD is a spin-off of Tetris, so you will be familiar with the basic game.
The features of Pentis Pro HD are decent enough. The game offers some unique perks that help enliven the user experience. Pentis Pro HD gives you two different game modes for you to use. The first is “Against” mode, where you can play against another player of a network. The “Together” mode is that two players can work together on the same field. The game also has a lot of different options like if you want to play normal, rational, or risky.
The game even goes as far as to adapt the controls. Not only can you use finger gestures, but you can use virtual or external keys as well. So the game gives you a lot of flexibility in not only your style of play, but the difficulty as well. In total, the game offers a variety of features, and some interesting co-op or verses gameplay. I’ll go into the design below.
The design of Pentis Pro HD is average at most. It’s definitely the worst part of the game. Pentis Pro HD is focused on a black background with white text, but the game really doesn’t look that good. The only part with color is the actual falling shapes. The developers need to spend a little more time on the design in order to perfect it. Another thing is that the controls aren’t in an optimal position. If they were moved or configured to be a little more intuitive, it would go a long way. One plus is that the game is optimized for the iPhone 5, so that’s a plus.
Overall if you’re looking for a Tetris like game, then Pentis Pro HD is here for you. It offers a different interface and different controls to Tetris. The game is only about 2 months old, so I would recommend at least checking out Pentis, especially Pentis Pro Lite, their free version. In total, the game is average in gameplay and graphics.
Pentis Pro HD is compatible with iPhone, iPod touch, and iPad. Requires iOS 6.0 or later. This app is optimized for the iPhone 5. A small expedite fee was paid by the developer to speed up the publication of this review.
