Music Maps: Written iPhone App Review
Music Maps By Giorgio Minissale is an application that will help you find the best music wherever you are. One of the best things about Music Maps is the global scope of the app. Not only does the app cover the United States, but it also covers the rest of the world. I was surprised by the fact that Europe is also very well integrated into Music Maps. There are likely more events in Europe than there are in the United States. Italy is also extremely well supported because that country contains more events than any other country. So it’s possible that the developers, or even the company that provides the data is based in Italy. So if you’re in Europe, the United States, or just want free musical maps on a global scale, Music Maps might be for you.
As I said above, the app is really aimed at a global market, and it really excels at it’s purpose. The application has a few very cool features built into it too. One of the features is to control how you view the maps by showing the country in different views. Another useful feature is to have even more added control over the radius of events near you. These features work together to provide customization to the maps part of the app.
The next part of the app is the ability to tap on an event, and immediately get the information of the artist, title of the event, and albums, and any notes. The app even provides a link to iTunes so you can get the song or album being played. So the app is quite functional in these regards.
The design of the application is pretty good, and features a clean and fairly simple interface. The seamless maps integration is a big plus so it’s easy to swipe your way around the map. When you tap on an event, a box appears that let you get the information of the event. The entire application is designed to be sleek, and very easy to use. The app is also optimized for the iPhone 5 so that’s a plus.
Overall the app is decent. While it has ads integrated, the app does provide a useful service. I hope the developers add to their app, especially the database of events going on in the United States. The app is clearly geared to Italy, so everyone would benefit from some more U.S. expansion. In total, great design, solid functionality, a great musical app to have.
Music Maps is compatible with iPhone, iPod touch, and iPad. Requires iOS 4.3 or later. This app is optimized for the iPhone 5. A small expedite fee was paid by the developer to speed up the publication of this review.
