HomeFinder.com Real Estate Search: Written iPhone App Review
The iPhone is great for helping you find places to grab a quick bite or something to do on a Friday night, but what about searching for a new place to call home? Such a task certainly isn’t an easy one, but it’s nice when technology can make the process a little less painful.
HomeFinder.com Real Estate Search, developed by HomeFinder.com, puts the helpfulness of an actual real estate agent in the convenience of your pocket. Whether you’re looking to buy, rent, or just see what’s around, this is one app that is definitely worth checking out.
Concept and Functionality:
As someone who has experience with using real estate apps, I’ve developed quite a strict personal criteria for what makes such a site or app “useful”. First, it has to be simple to use and not cramped with fluff. Second, it needs to function like an intuitive person by showing you what you need to know only when you need to know it.
Thankfully HomeFinder fits the aforementioned criteria, and then some. Finding a home to buy or rent is as easy as searching in the location you’re looking to move to. From there, you can see all available properties marked on the map. Pressing on one of these pins allows you to see a home’s price, address, type (such as single-family home), number of bedrooms, and available photos. If you’re still interested, there’s a detailed page you can view which shows the realtor’ description of the property, additional property data, and contact information for the listing realtor.
While a comparison to other popular real estate apps like Trulia and Zillow is inevitable, I have to say that I’m slightly disappointed with the number of search results I received. However, every app tends to include or exclude listings, especially when it comes to rentals. Whether this is a fault of the app or something else, I can’t honestly say. However, this is one of the main reasons why it’s wise to use multiple apps and websites in your search.
HomeFinder is rich in features that will make your search infinitely easier. For example, the color of a home’s pin on the map represents whether it is a home you have or haven’t looked at. You can also enable filters that will limit viewable houses by things such as number of bedrooms, square feet, and price range.
If you’re feeling overwhelmed by the number of results on the map, you can view properties on a streamlined list. What’s nice about this is that you can still see photos of listings, which definitely saves a lot of time. It’s also easy to save your favorite homes or apartments. Simply create an account on HomeFinder.com.
Many times we’re not the only ones involved in the property hunt, so options to share listings are definitely important in any real estate app. HomeFinder allows you to quickly and easily share your favorite houses or apartments with others via email, text message, Facebook, and Twitter.
HomeFinder is free to download from the App Store. If you’re looking for a great new real estate search app with tons of potential, I definitely recommend taking HomeFinder for a test drive. A bit of personal advice, though; be sure to use multiple apps and sites in your search.
HomeFinder.com Real Estate Search is compatible with iPhone, iPod touch and iPad. Requires iOS 5.0 or later. This app is optimized for iPhone 5. A small expedite fee was paid by the developer to speed up the publication of this review.
