Generali: Written iPhone App Review
When it comes to iPhone and iPad applications, we are continuously amazed by what the iOS platform is being used to do, create or otherwise promote. Today’s example comes blazing out of the business world, and is more akin to a board meeting than it is an app. It’s the Generali Corporate App and it’s put out by Gruppo Generali. It contains a bevy of information related to the company’s worldwide profits, margins, expenses and income. What does this mean for you, the stockholder with an iPhone in your pocket? It means you’re tied that much closer to your safety net, no matter where you are.
Concept and Functionality
As stated, the idea behind Generali is simple, yet highly effective from a number of angles. Essentially, the app makes it easy to see in a pinch what’s going on with the company across a wide number of quarters. However, it also makes it easier to take a long-haul look at the entire load of reports. In other words, no matter what you want to know about the Generali Group (or Gruppo Generali) you’re guaranteed to find it here.
The app includes stock reports, photos, worldwide statistics, contacts, calendars, information about the group itself, share charts, and a whole lot more. It’s even got a How-To-Hints section incase you’re feeling a wee bit lost. Oh, and did we mention that the application is completely free in the App Store?
To summarize, the concept at work here is not idea for all users. If you haven’t got much of a vested interest in the Generali Group, you’re not going to get much out of the concept or functionality. On the other hand, if you are in that fortunate category, Generali is your new best mate.
Graphics and Design
Typically, when we see these sort of corporate sponsored apps, we don’t tend to see a very high degree of sophistication in either design or layout. However, with Generali we were more than pleasantly surprised to find that this is simply not the case. The app makes extensive use of personally branded interface elements, including a sliding drawer of tabs designed to keep all the relevant information at hand and easily accessible. In essence, this makes it incredibly simple to open the app, take a quick peak at the forecasts and reports, and come away with a better knowledge of the Generali financial situation. If you’re a major stockholder, that rapid data retrieval can easily make a difference.
To reinforce a point as well, Generali is of course free. With that in mind, if you have any interest at all in what the app is offering, then go ahead and snag it. It won’t cost you anything to enjoy, and it has the real potential to make your waking business hours easier to handle from top to bottom.
Generali requires iOS 5.0 or later and is compatible with iPhone, iPad, and iPod Touch. A small expedite fee was paid by the developer to speed up the publication of this review.
