eventseeker: Written iPhone App Review
Lately, we’ve been seeing an awful lot of socially minded applications that are designed to get you out and about, rather than sitting in front of your computer screen. These are those iPhone and iPad applications that get you out of the house, down the street, and showing up for that killer new music festival at the far side of the block. However, we have rarely seen an app as smooth or as good as eventseeker. It’s a phenomenal way to find places to go and things to do around you, and we can’t recommend it enough. For our full review, though, you need only to slide on down below the break.
Concept and Functionality
As with most of these applications, the core idea behind eventseeker isn’t actually that hard to get an hold on. The app first off will find your locale using either your built-in geo-sensors, or it will allow you to type in the name of any city across the country. Honestly, it will accept any city. This is what initially sets the apart apart in our minds: Most of these offerings are fairly limited in where they can look to find information, but eventseeker is a wide open book. We spend a lot of time in both Little Rock and Denver, and the app handled both easily.
Aside from this, eventseeker will serve you up a steaming plate of nearby events, popular outings, or other filtered results. Browse through the ones you want, then click for more information: This includes photos, details, and exact locations. Want to share this information with others? RSVP to the event in-app, and then hook an invite out through your tied Facebook account. It’s seamless, easy, and honestly, quite fun. The next time you’re at a bar asking your friends what they want to do, pull eventseeker out of a hat and let it rip.
Design and Interface
However, eventseeker doesn’t just perform well: It also looks rather gorgeous doing it. On both the iPhone and iPad, the app has been incredibly well designed to be easy on the eyes, easier on the fingers, and quick to get you out the door. We liked the color scheme, the tabbed navigation, and the pleasant icons. In fact, it’s rather obvious that a fair amount of branding work has gone into the app, which amounts to a stunningly well-done execution.
And did we mention that eventseeker is completely free? The app is indeed sans prix in the App Store, which means you have no reason not to go grab it this instant if it sounds like an engaging idea. If you’re looking for something to benefit your social life with, and without hurting your financial one, there’s no better recommendation than eventseeker.
eventseeker requires iOS 6.0 or later and is compatible with iPhone, iPad, and iPod Touch. A small expedite fee was paid to speed up the publication of this review.
