RecordOrders: Written iPhone App Review
Business apps are definitely useful for iPhone, iPod Touch, and iPad users, but sometimes they can cost so much that they significantly eat into your profit. Not only that, but they tend to be complicated and difficult to use. Looking for an inexpensive, yet feature-filled app which will almost certainly become your new favorite business partner? Well, look no further!
RecordOrders, developed by Living Paper Free, LLC, is a very impressive app which is designed to help you keep track of transactions. Featuring customizable forms and multiple ways to export and share data, this app is perfect for a wide range of users.
Concept and Functionality:
As someone who thoroughly enjoys selling things, I’m always looking for handy apps which will allow me to improve productivity. For a business app to be truly useful, it needs to serve a multitude of purposes while staying on the simple side. It needs to be easy to use, but complex enough to handle almost anything the user throws at it.
RecordOrders definitely fits the description above. Whether you’re a small business owner, the occasional yard sale host, or even a student who is participating in a school fundraiser, this app can certainly be of use. To get started, simply enter item information in the “Items” tab of the app. You can specify the name of items, price, and even include a photo for quick reference.
Once you’ve completed the process of entering item information, RecordOrders becomes even easier to use. The “Enter Orders” tab includes a fully customizable form for entering customer information (such as name, address, and phone number) and product information (such as quantity).
There are also “Paid” and “Delivered” buttons at the top of the form so you can quickly keep track of whether or not orders have been paid for and/or delivered. Pressing the “Save” button on the order form takes you to a handy invoice that automatically calculates the order cost based on what you specified when entering item information. You can even share this invoice via email and SMS, or print it.
The “View Orders” screen allows you to see all orders you’ve placed within the app, sorting them by unfulfilled, completed, and date. This is great for users who want to have quick access to orders for reference. To mark an order as paid or delivered, simply swipe your finger across it and press the checkmark.
RecordOrders has many features which are extremely useful. For one, you can enter information for an unlimited number of items. My favorite feature, however, is the many ways to share invoices with your customers. It’s always best to keep them “in the loop”, and there’s no better way to do so than via email or SMS.
For an ultra quick look at how many orders you’ve placed and the total amount of money you’ve made, there’s a “Summary” page. This not only tells you how many orders have been made and how much money you’ve collected, but also how many orders you still need to complete.
Lastly, there’s an “Admin” page which gives you complete control over almost everything in RecordOrders. From here, you can backup your database to Dropbox, export it via CSV, or reset it. You can also customize your order form fields and specify which currency you’re using.
After extensively testing RecordOrders, I can honestly say that it’s an invaluable tool for anyone who might need to keep track of purchased items and/or services. For only $1.99, you’re getting a very detailed app which will definitely become an important part of your business. Plus the app is universally compatible with both iPhone and iPad.
