Pindolo: Written iPhone App Review
One of the bad things about apps is that they tend not to change unless there’s an update. Sometimes apps become boring and stale, collecting digital dust on our devices and eventually getting deleted. What about an app that changes with each new day and brings you new, informative, and entertaining content?
Concept and Functionality:
It’s quite refreshing to see an app (other than one that covers the news) change with each day. Instead of waking up and checking your Facebook feed or Twitter stream, you can open Pindolo and be entertained by something new. Cute animations and a lighthearted design will make for a fun start to anyone’s day.
When you first open Pindolo, you’re greeted with the app’s menu. This is where you can quickly and easily scroll through everything that’s available. If you want to listen to the “Good Morning Song”, simply press it from the menu and play it. Forget about songs you’ve never heard of, though, because Pindolo uses today’s popular songs.
Playing music isn’t the only cool thing Pindolo can do. Reading the daily comic strip is fun and makes for a good laugh, and the daily quote is both informative and inspirational. You can also see which famous people were born that day, along with any historical anniversaries. There’s also a Tips page which shows you a popular album, movie, and website and changes weekly instead of daily.
One of my favorite features of Pindolo is the archive. It allows you to see what the quote, song, comic, and anniversary was for each day since the app’s beginning. This is a great way to browse the app and learn new things, especially if you’ve already looked through the content for the current day.
Also, Pindolo is downright cute and fun to use. From the cute Pindolo characters to the bright design of the app, it’s extremely cheery. There’s even a game you can play that involves all of the Pindolo characters, and your score is saved in Game Center.
Lastly, if you see a cool quote or you want to let your best friend know what happened on his or her birthday, you can share information in Pindolo via email, Facebook, and Twitter. This even includes comics, which is definitely a cool feature.
Pindolo is priced at $0.99 in the App Store, and it’s worth the value if you’re looking for an app that brings you something new each day. Naturally there are features such as the daily song which cost money to license, so it’s understandable that this is a paid app. If you’re unsure whether you’d like Pindolo enough to pay for it, you can check out the free version.
Pindolo is compatible with iPhone, iPod touch and iPad. Requires iOS 6.0 or later. This app is optimized for iPhone 5. A small expedite fee was paid by the developer to speed up the publication of this review.
