papirus.net: Written & Video iPhone App Review
When we’re not busy writing iPhone reviews, we like to stay even busier by working as graphic designers. This means we have stacks on stacks of work, projects, deadlines, and tasks the need completing. We tend to deal with this thanks to various project management solutions. One of our new found favorites on the iPhone? It happens to be a little something called papirus.net from Simply Good Software, Inc. —a handy, simple, and effective way to ensure you keep up with the workflow in a timely manner. For our full review of this productivity suite for the iPhone and iPad, you need only to look below beyond the break!
Concept and Functionality
The basic idea behind papirus.net is not the most original we’ve ever seen, but then again, when it comes to project management solutions, that’s hardly a bad thing. After all, they tend to boil down to some basic yet vital elements. For instance, papirus.net allows you to create projects which serve as umbrellas for the tasks that go beneath. For instance, you might create a project for that big client that needs reports next week. Then, assign that task.
From there, it only gets more productive. You can assign specific people within your work group (papirus.net is free up to 25 people, even) as well as approval spots, too: These are people who need to “sign off” on project details and updates. Beyond this, papirus.net makes it easy to keep up with the correspondences, updates, and attachments that tend to float around when a big project is being worked on. This is incredibly viable in the workplace, and given our experience with missing deadlines thanks to a busy docket, we’re all the more thankful for it. Oh, and did we mention how simple all of this is?
Graphics and Layout
Oddly enough, one of the more crucial aspects of any productivity app isn’t its functionality—though certainly that’s important—as its layout. With papirus.net, we have no concerns. It’s quick, its lightweight, and it leaves off a lot of the fluff that we see with other solutions. For instance, there are no messy apps or plugins to bog down the flow. It’s all slick communication, easy-to-read layouts, and simple-to-understand formatting. This is a tremendous advantage when you’re desperately looking for a quick answer to a problem, or just need to refresh on some details.
We mentioned it earlier, but papirus.net is also completely free up to a ridiculous number of users. With that in mind, we’ve paid a lot more for software with a lot less to offer, which makes the app a tremendous value. With its mobile potential, as well as its productivity at the forefront, papirus.net is a fantastic addition to any workflow, and for those with a busy schedule, we highly recommend it.
papirus.net requires iOS 5.0 or later and is compatible with iPhone, iPad, and iPod Touch. A small expedite fee was paid by the developer to speed up the publication of this review, as well as a video production fee.
