MyEmotions: Tune Into Your Feelings: Written iPhone App Review
Consumers can now track and analyze their emotions with MyEmotions: Tune Into Your Feelings, an iOS app by Yord Apps. MyEmotions utilizes psychological techniques well known by professionals in the field, according to the official app description. These techniques are used for the purpose of helping users determine the intensity levels of their emotions, and they can then presumably make better life decisions in light of this information.
MyEmotions features a series of two-minute questionnaires that lead people to a clearer understanding of their current primary emotional state. Specifically, MyEmotions users are led to click through various graphics according to the way that they feel, and at the end of this time MyEmotions presents them with a reading of what emotion they are feeling. The emotional analysis provided by MyEmotions is done based on a technique that has been shown to be 90% accurate, and this app’s free library includes 62 different emotional states. Other features of MyEmotions includes the option of sharing this mood with others through popular social networking sites (like Facebook or Twitter). When using MyEmotions myself, I was pleased overall with its features; the brevity of the questionnaire combined with the accuracy of the analysis was impressive.
Appearance and Layout:
MyEmotions’ Steampunk-style graphics are excellent. Operating the app is smooth, with step by step instructions that guide users through the process of analyzing their current emotional state. Perhaps my only complaint that could be somewhat justifiably lodged against MyEmotions is that I was unsure of what some of the emotion-detector icons at the very beginning of the app were supposed to represent. Regardless, following the questionnaire that I was given in the app did lead me to an accurate analysis of my day’s emotions. Again, the way that MyEmotions is designed is positively beautiful; there is no aspect of the aesthetics of this app that can really be criticized. I particularly loved the way that each screen shifted to the next. Namely, the mechanical/robotic approach to this flow made for great in-app entertainment.
MyEmotions is a free app, and for individuals who are looking for an app of its kind, MyEmotions is definitely a great option. Graphically, it is far above most other apps. Of course, whether one really believes the veracity of the analysis provided through MyEmotions is really up to individuals, but as far as the overall functionality of this app goes, MyEmotions definitely hits the mark. Additionally, while the basic version of MyEmotions is free, premium features (which include an expanded library of over 300 emotional possibilities, as well as detections for the intensity levels of these emotions and a record of past emotions) can be purchased for $2.99.
MyEmotions: Tune Into Your Feeling iPhone app requires iOS 4.3 or later and is compatible with iPhone, iPod Touch, and iPad. A small expedite fee was paid by the developer to speed up the publication of this review.
