Finderous: Written iPhone App Review
Finderous is an application available for the iPhone and iPod Touch from Finderous. The point of Finderous is to connect you with groups based on location. You can join interest groups, create interest groups, make threads, post comments, post photos, and more. Finderous is really a way for you to connect with others on your phone. It’s also a community where you can associate, communicate, help, and chat with other people. The best part about it is that it’s targeted to people with your interest. Hence the interest groups. Below I will go into the features and design of the app, but the thing to takeaway here is that this app is an app that helps you connect to others.
The features of Finderous are pretty much what I mentioned above. The app let’s you create interest groups, create threads, post comments, join groups, and add photos. The developers recently released 3.0.2 which contains an increased character limit, improved scrolling performance, and bug fixes. Finderous also is a community on your iPhone. Many people use Finderous to comment and talk to each other about various things in their lives.
One of the great things about Finderous is the different threads. For example, one thread is about funny license plate photos. Another is about the startups of America. So you get a variety of different topics to comment on and discuss. Finderous can be seen as a social connectivity platform, or as a location based connection app. The app also has some social functions such as Facebook and Twitter.
The design of Finderous is pretty unique. The app has a certain style which I haven’t seen before. To begin, it’s pretty easy to view the different threads. A thread and it’s comments are only a tap or two away. The app is navigated by a tab bar. There is a “You” tab, where you can view your profile, a “Groups” tab, where you can see threads and groups, and a “Timeline” tab, where you can see your timeline.
Overall the app is about average. I think the developer needs to work a little more to define what the app is, and follow a specific purpose. It can be confusing because the app is branded as a location app, but your location isn’t used that much. Some more focus could really improve the app. Also, a little better design couldn’t hurt. In total though, this app provides a great community for anyone that wants to communicate with others, I would recommend this app if you like to comment in threads on forums, and want to learn a little more about other’s perspectives.
Finderous is compatible with iPhone, iPod touch and iPad. Requires iOS 6.0 or later. This app is optimized for iPhone 5. A small expedite fee was paid by the developer to speed up the publication of this review.
