If you’re a parent, you know how hard it can be to find apps that are appropriate for your kids, especially if those apps have videos. Now you’re in luck! The new Toon Goggles iPhone and iPad app from Digital Media Interactive is 100 percent for kids.

Features:

Toon Goggles is a virtual library featuring cartoons from around the world. I didn’t recognize any of the titles, but the quality is definitely there. This app sorts cartoons into different searchable categories, like girl, boy, action and comedy. Handing the app to a little one? Try the pre-school category.

You can also search for key words or topics, although my search for kitties didn’t bring up anything. There are hours and hours of cartoon shows in this app, which can be viewed vertically or horizontally. You can save your favorites, add videos to your Toon Box queue and peruse recently viewed or top videos. There is a brief registration involved, but it’s no big deal and takes a moment, it’s definitely worth doing to be able to save videos and make playlists.

Not all of the content in this app is appropriate for children of all ages, so I do recommend supervising the app usage, or creating Toon Boxes of pre-approved content for your kiddo. The idea of kid-friendly toon TV is pretty fresh, and I think this app is well made enough to pull it off.

There’s a huge variety of animation variety in this app, for that alone I kinda love it. Using the app is really easy. It looks great on my iPad and iPhone 5’s retina screen, although the video quality will vary based on whatever the creators decided to upload, so keep your expectations realistic. Some of this stuff looks great, some of it just doesn’t.

It is simply made, which is great since it’s for kids. The bottom tab design makes finding what you’re looking for super easy and the log in aspect makes it personal. Just beware the “More” tab. There are a few un-kid-friendly links here that may not make it past a picky parent muster.

Overall Value:

The Toon Goggles iPhone app is free right now, which is a really great treat. Go get it while this promotion is going on, whether you’re looking for something neat for your kids or a cartoon-filled way to see some new stuff.

Not sure what the regular price will be, but as long as it’s not more than $5 or so, I can say this app is worth it. Check it out, toon heads! You’re gonna love it!
