Snow Brawlin’: Written iPhone App Review
Snow Brawlin’ by Ghost Hand Games is a fast-paced snow-ball based iOS app game. This app is designed to gain in increasing difficulty based on the length of time that a player survives the snow brawl and is sure to provide players with hours of entertainment. Snow Brawlin’ players will spend their time on the side of Risoo the brown squirrel and against those greedy gray squirrels.
Snow Brawlin’s name pretty much sums up this fun game’s purpose—engaging in an all out snowball fight. The app features a gang of rowdy gray squirrels that are all teaming up against Risoo (a brown squirrel) to steal his corner of the woods, and it’s up to you as the game player to fight them off with Risoo’s own snowball supply. Snow Brawlin’ features a tilt-screen game control style, allowing players to really get kinesthetically involved in the game. Tapping the screen is also a major part of playing Snow Brawlin’, as it enables you to throw back Risoo’s own snowballs with accurate aim. Fun music plays in the background of Snow Brawlin’, and high scores are recorded in this game. Fireballs, coins, and other extras can be collected during Snow Brawlin’ in order to help you gain more points or extra throwing power. These features, combined with the gradually increasing difficulty in game play during levels, really make Snow Brawlin’ a fun, entertaining game that’s well worth the space it takes up on any iOS device.
Appearance and Layout:
Snow Brawlin’s graphics are great for a free game of its type. The cartoon critters are sure to please even the pickiest gamers, while the easy controlling style of this game ensures a fluid flow in game play. I was extremely impressed with the detail that was put into designing Snow Brawlin’; the wintry background, flying snowballs, and various woodland creatures (enemies of Risoo) are all excellently created. The layout of Snow Brawlin’ is also perfectly logical. Players are greeted with an entry screen presenting game play options when they first open the app and are later shown a score board when they “die.” Snow Brawlin’ is a horizontally oriented game, which works perfectly with its overall design.
Snow Brawlin’ is currently available for free, although in-app purchases can also be made if desired. Such purchases include the option of paying to make Snow Brawlin’ advertisement-free or to get extra “lives” or more “arctic blasts.” As a free game, I’d certainly say that Snow Brawlin’ is well worth installing on your chosen iOS device, even if you don’t leave it installed there forever. It’s a fun, fast-paced game with a great storyline that deserves a full five stars.
Snow Brawlin’ iPhone app requires iOS 4.3 or later and is compatible with iPhone, iPod Touch, and iPad. A small expedite fee was paid by the developer to speed up the publication of this review.
