Rotago: Written and Video iPhone Game App Review
New Year’s is upon us, and with it comes a host of new apps and games to try. What’s better than ditching all of those old and boring games for fresh ones which will keep you entertained until next year?
Rotago, developed by Arkitrol, is a fun and addicting puzzle game for the iPhone. It currently has a rating of 5 stars in the App Store and over 100 positive reviews. Did I mention it hasn’t even been available for a month?
Concept and Gameplay:
Even though puzzle games never were my “thing”, I love trying out games which seem completely unique. Rotago is both fun and challenging, and it’s sure to keep you on your toes for hours.
With 40 levels that become progressively more difficult, Rotago is anything but a breeze. There are a few beginner levels which give you a chance to learn how to play the game. This tutorial run is very helpful, but I found myself getting confused even from the get-go. That’s not the game’s fault, however, because I’m not great with puzzle games.
The whole idea of Rotago is simple – rotate squares with four triangular pieces so they match squares next to them. You’re also supposed to complete a puzzle as fast as you can and in the fewest moves possible for a higher score.
The app’s description on the developer’s website states that “The objective is to bring all 4 pieces to the designated spots, denoted by 4 arrows. Sometimes you will not be able to move in certain directions, and sometimes you’ll have to undo what you did to rotate different pieces of the puzzle.”
Rotago is definitely a unique game, and I love the fact that it’s not one you can master by zooming through the tutorial. This sort of difficulty isn’t for everyone, though, but players who love to be challenged are going to love it.
As I previously mentioned, Rotago includes practice levels so you can be introduced to everything you need to do in order to play the game correctly. The practice levels are even timed with limited moves, just like the actual levels in the game.
Lastly, you can keep track of your Rotago scores with Game Center integration. This is perfect for players who love to compete with themselves or others by improving their level scores.
According to the developer’s website, Rotago is regularly priced at $0.99. However, it’s currently available for free in the App Store. The length of this promotional period is unknown, but Rotago is still worth the paid price. If you’re in search of a fun puzzle game which is sure to challenge you, hurry up and grab Rotago while it’s free!
Rotago is compatible with iPhone, iPod touch, and iPad. Requires iOS 5.0 or later. This app is optimized for iPhone 5. A small expedite fee was paid to speed up the publication of this review, as well as a video production fee.
