Piano Master: Written and Video iPad App Review

Reviewed by Philip Chan

Piano Master, from developer B77 Entertainment, is a new music game app for your iOS. Ever wanted to try and play famous songs on the piano from your iPad, iPhone or iPod Touch? Now you can with Piano Master, through the free (lite) version or the full, paid version off of iTunes!

In Piano Master, gamers are tasked with tapping a virtual piano in realtime to play a song displayed on the screen. Do to it, gamers must simple tap the correct key as the note for it comes across the screen. If you have ever played other music timing games, like Guitar Hero, you will feel right at home with this app. There are several different songs to choose from, ranging from the truly classical to more modern songs. There is even several difficulty settings, include a nice ‘preview’ mode, for each song, allowing you to work on it from whatever level of musical gamer that you are. I really enjoyed the gameplay in Piano Master. It’s somewhat reminiscent of other music, rhythm dance games, like DDR or Rock Band, as you have to tap the right notes at just the right time. However, it’s all in the palm of your hand on the iOS and handles beautifully. It almost feels like you are actually on the piano, pounding out high quality, famous musical pieces!

Graphical Layout:
Piano Master features fairly simple graphics for its main loading and menu screens. However, the game piano keys look great, as do the notes floating downward as bars for you to hit. Piano Master is a cinch to figure out how to play on the first time around, thanks to the straight-forward layout and the excellent design. There’s even awesome ‘feedback’ text animated that flies out at you while playing the piano to let you know how you are doing!

Piano Master iPad App Review

With a free version and a paid, ‘pro’ version, Piano Master offers the best of both worlds. The free version is pretty impressive, as it features many of the same things as the paid version, except with less songs. It’s a great way to try out the app and see if you would really like it enough to buy it. The game of Piano Master, combined with the layout and the large number of songs with multiple difficulty settings really makes this music app a winner. Check out Piano Master today if you want a solid piano music game on the iOS!

Piano Master is available on iPhone, iPod Touch, and iPad, running iOS 4.3 or later. A small expedite fee was paid by the developer to speed up the publication of this review, as well as a video production fee.
