Mecca Bingo: Written iPhone App Review
Are you more than a little bit into bingo? Do you spend a lot of your time just waiting for the next game to start so you can gamble a few more pence, win a few more quid? If so, then you’ve come to the right place. Today’s review is all about Mecca Bingo, from MeccaBingo.com, for the iPhone, and if you’re a fan of the franchise, you’ll find a lot of familiar ground to stomp about on here. And without mincing any more words, let’s go ahead and dive right into the thick of things with Mecca Bingo for iOS!
Concept and Functionality
If you’re familiar at all with the Mecca Bingo series—and given the sheer size of the various lines they offer, we’d be surprised if you weren’t—then you’ve likely already got an handle on how the application works. Essentially, you’ll need to start with a Mecca Bingo account, which you’ll use to pay for your tickets. Once this has been setup, you’re nearly ready to go! Just pick a game you’d like to join, add as many tickets as you feel like betting, and then the app itself will take over to do the rest.
In this way, it’s very easy to simply setup a few tickets, kick back, and then wait for the app to give you results. While you’re doing so, you can also chat with other bingo mates via the in-app chatroom. This is a great way to pass the time, as well as to have a chinwag about your conquests. Chuffed to bits that you just won a couple of pounds? Go ahead and tell the room about it! And remember, joining a new game is as easy as tapping a few times with a single finger.
Design and Interface
Here, sadly, is where things begin to get a bit tricky for Mecca Bingo. You see, the application itself is fairly well designed. It’s a bit gaudy, a bit flashy and otherwise everything you might expect from a Mecca Bingo app. However, it’s got a nasty habit of dropping us from games that we only just paid for. In other words, you might easily shell out a few quid on tickets, only to have the game unexpectedly tell you the table has ended. That’s money lost with no hope of winning it back—a surefire way to piss off the gamblers amongst the app’s users!
With that in mind, the value of the application is rather severely curbed. Sure, it’s a free offering in the UK App Store—a definite plus for any app. But with the current bugs and errors that we and other users have experienced, it may yet be worth waiting a while before jumping on the Mecca Bingo for iPhone bandwagon. Then again, if you’re a dedicated Mecca Bingo fanatic, there’s no reason not to continue the fun while on the go with the app this instant.
Mecca Bingo requires iOS 3.2 or later and is compatible with iPhone, iPad, and iPod Touch. A small expedite fee was paid by the developer to speed up the publication of this review.
