Evil Boss: Project “RIP”: Written iPhone App Review
Evil Boss: Project “RIP”, from developer AlterEGO, is a new anti-boss app for your iOS. Ever wanted to take your frustrations with your mean boss out on an iPhone, iPod Touch, or iPad game? Then Evil Boss: Project “RIP” may be just right for you. Take a look at our take on this silly bouncy-boss app for more!
Load up the game, let your in-game boss yell at you for a few seconds, than tap a little red button to send him flying away with a swift kick. The better the kick, the farther he will fly and the more points you, the gamer, will score. Along the way, the boss character may bounce off fire hydrants, run into rioters, get picked up by a bird and more, all moving him farther and farther away from your character and scoring you more points. It’s a hideously violent concept for a game, but it’s done in a light, cartoon style reminiscent of many other “boss” app games on the iOS market. As you score more points, you can spend your earnings on a variety of obstacles and other items in the Evil Boss shop. These include the previously-mentioned birds, cars, dogs and many more. Gameplay is pretty simply to grasp (after all, you are just tapping one big “kick” button, but the overall feeling is of a polished, light gaming app for the iOS.
Evil Boss: Project “RIP” features humorous cartoon graphics, both of your character and the ‘evil’ boss. I really dig the graphical style used, it’s a little mixture of vector art with some hand-drawn style figures with great, soft color tones. Despite the ‘angry’ boss concept, the art style and layout leaves the gamer feeling relaxed and at ease-perhaps the opposite of a real life encounter with an angry boss! Animations for the flying boss after the kick are fine and the bounces look pretty painful! My favorite part is the audio used for the boss’ voice, it’s something like an angry chipmunk, all riled up! The app is easy to browse and snap to play, so definitely a 5/5 score for layout!
Evil Boss: Project “RIP” is a paid app, costing $0.99. However, it’s well-worth it if you are in the market for a silly ‘revenge’ app on a make-believe boss for the iOS. The graphics and animations are well done, the gameplay funny and addicting, and the overall design excellent. Kicking your boss out the window is certainly not a concept we endorse here at The iPhone App Review, however, for a cartoony-take on this concept, Evil Boss is the way to go on the iOS!
Evil Boss: Project “RIP” is available on iPhone, iPod Touch, and <em>iPad, running iOS 4.3 or later. A small expedite fee was paid by the developer to speed up the publication of this review.
