Ecoute: Written iPhone App Review
Ecoute is an application available from PixiApps for the iPhone and iPod Touch. The usefulness of Ecoute is that it is the ultimate way to play your music from your iPhone or iPod Touch. The application is basically an alternative player for your music. Ecoute is packed with a ton of great features that help define and separate it from your everyday music app. The design of Ecoute is also unique and can work well in a variety of situations.
The functionality behind Ecoute is complex to the point that it will benefit you, but not so far as to confuse you. One of the best things about Ecoute is the integration of gestures to control music. Not only does it make the app much more fun to use, it also is a lot easier than finding all the little buttons when you just want to enjoy the song. The app also does a fantastic job of integrating different social features. You can share your music on Twitter, Facebook, and Last.fm, so you’re pretty much set in terms of social connectivity.
Ecoute also supports a variety of technology such as AirPlay, which let’s you stream your music to various devices in your home. iTunes Match is also supported which is also a nice little feature. As an added bonus, you can view lyrics with LyricsWiki. In total, Ecoute has you covered on the tech side of playing music and has some great features attached.
The application features a unique interface and as I mentioned before, uses a lot of gestures. The app also gives you the ability to add filters such as Artist, Albums, Composers, Genres, Playlist, Genius, Compilations, Tracks, Audiobooks, Podcast, etc. While that’s quite a list, using these categories can help streamline your music playing experience. To go back to the interface part, the interface of Ecoute presents an easy way to view all your music. The app is extremely simple to navigate right from the get-go, so you can start playing your music.
The various features such as AirPlay, iTunes Match, and LyricsWiki combine with the seamless interface and extra social features like Facebook and Twitter to create a remarkable application. Aside from the price, which seems a bit high, the app is quite solid, fun to use, and I think it deserves at least a 4 star rating. The developer is fairly consistent with adding updates so you can rest assured you will be fully compatible with the latest features available. In fact, the developer is working on releasing a universal version which is sure to justify the price and will make this and even better value than it already is. Ecoute also looks great on the iPhone 5 and can be great way to play music with friends, family, and yourself!
Ecoute is compatible with iPhone, iPod touch, and iPad. Requires iOS 5.0 or later. This app is optimized for iPhone 5. A small expedite fee was paid by the developer to speed up the publication of this review.
