Confetti HD: Written iPad App Review
Confetti HD is an application that is available for the iPad. The goal of the game is to get the most points by collecting the right cards. I’m going to quote the developer here for their instructions. They can explain much more thoroughly than I can.
“One has to gain the most points by collecting the right cards. Each card has three circles on it of different size and color. A small, medium and big circle of the same color is a set – this grants 1 victory point. So to get one point, you will need three different cards with circles of one color and different size. Since all cards have three circles of different color, you can get more points by combining them, for example gain two points on four cards or four points on five cards. The best combination is 3 points on three cards. This is so called full set. You can complete two full sets during one round and gain 6 points.”
Instructions – 3.5 Stars
Now while this is quite a mouthful, it gives an accurate explanation of the rules and how to play. Trust me, the game is going to take a little while to get used to, but after you get over the initial learning bump, the game is actually a lot of fun. The instructions need to be improved to be more clear, but don’t get turned away by them. The game is definitely worth taking the time to learn how to play. While the initial instructions appear to be difficult to understand, there is a much simpler page within the game that shows you visually how to play.
The design is actually pretty good. The designers and developers put a lot of work into making this app presentable and fun to play. When you open the game, your presented with a colorful home screen that encourages your gaming spirit. The game does a good job of letting you select settings so you can modify the game to fit your custom needs. The cards that are used in the game are also well designed and look high-def or retina. The entire game is really colorful and captures your eye when you play it.
The gameplay is enjoyable once you figure out how to play. Confetti HD offers a fun way to play with family and friends too with tabletop mode. You can also add computer players or human players as you choose. You can move cards around by dragging them with your finger and playing them in the proper areas. The gameplay is pretty good compared to some other games on the store.
Overall the game has a lot of color and has optimal design. The instructions can be improved, but that shouldn’t stop you from at least trying to figure out the game. The gameplay can be quite challenging or simple depending on the difficulties you want. Confetti HD also let’s you play with friends and family right on the iPad with tabletop mode. The AI is optimized to pose a real challenge to serious players too. In total, above-average game.
Confetti HD is compatible with iPad. Requires iOS 4.0 or later. A small expedite fee was paid by the developer to speed up the publication of this review.
