Blockage: Written iPad App Review
Blockage, from Origami Media, is a game developed for the iPad. The game uses logic and a big screen to help you exercise your brain while having fun. To start, Blockage has a ton of fun levels. It offers a challenge for serious players, while being a fun game for more casual users. The developers mention that less than 1% of players actually beat the game. This provides a lot of opportunities for you to prove yourself as a Blockage champion. As I will discuss below, Blockage has excellent gameplay, design, and logic puzzles in the game. It’s up to you to see how far you can go. How far will you go for Blockage?
The gameplay of Blockage is actually quite simple at first. The goal each level is to get the correct box to it’s individual target area. There are simple controls which let you play the game easily. As you progress through the game, each level becomes more challenging. While you may get frustrated and want to quit, Blockage keeps you engaged. It’s best if you spend 20 or 30 minutes with Blockage in a straight period of time, to get the most out of the game. The game requires focus and discipline, but can be a great and exciting brain exerciser.
The design of Blockage is above-average. The game features simple menus to let you get more playing time in. The backgrounds are also quite nice and look good on the iPad. The soundtrack of Blockage also keeps your tempo up as you attempt to solve all of the logic puzzles. The game also has 30 levels that can keep you occupied for hours on end.
The game is quite simple, but also a lot of fun. There are only three game buttons that you use on any given level. This makes it simple to enjoy for all ages, and provides a great brain teaser when you need a boost. Blockage also comes with helpful hints that can get you through the beginning levels of the game.
Overall the game is very well developed and uses physics and touch interface to capture your attention and energize your brain. The game offers easy controls and let’s you get to playing the game quickly. The game has hours of fun that can tapped into at any time. On an iPad, the game looks great and is a great addition to any logic games you may already have. While I didn’t get the chance to play all of the levels, from the ones I sampled (quite a few), the game seemed like it had real potential. I recommend checking out Blockage for the iPad.
Blockage is compatible with iPhone, iPod touch, and iPad. Requires iOS 4.3 or later.A small expedite fee was paid by the developer to speed up the publication of this review.
