rePix: Written iPhone App Review
rePix, by Big Jumbo, is a fun app that enables consumers to easily add “stickers” to their iOS pictures. Reminiscent of old school sticker book photos, rePix brings the fun of old fashion sticker edits to the convenience of digital iOS photography. Since some of the rePix sticker options may be considered crass or otherwise inappropriate for certain audiences, this app can only be purchased by consumers who are 17 and older.
rePix lets users easily add quirky features to any pictures in their iOS photo library. These stickers range from characters that can be inserted into a photo (such as a “Tiny Grandma”) or humorous additions (like a “urine stream”). Other stickers include crazy hair, a sinister looking black cat, caution tape, a cloud, and a banana. Of course, the classic “mustache + eyeglasses” sticker is also a part of the basic rePix sticker pack. In addition to plastering stickers all over an image, rePix also allows users to insert text or draw directly on a photo. Once a photo has been satisfactorily edited, rePix then directs users to share that photo through a social media platform (like Facebook or Instagram). Unlocking additional stickers through rePix is dependent upon sharing photos or receiving an adequate amount of “likes” on these photos. However, users also have the option of purchasing additional sticker packages, even if they have not received a certain number of “likes” or shared the minimal amount of photos. For anyone who gets kicks and giggles out of quirky photo edits, rePix is certainly an app that will please.
Appearance and Layout:
The rePix layout is completely logical. I had absolutely no problem with navigating through the app the first time that I used it, as everything was laid out in a self explanatory manner. Additionally, the graphics for rePix are what one would expect for an app of its type. True to its official product description, the photo insertions for it truly look just like stickers—impressively detailed stickers at that. Other options (like drawing on a photo) were depicted with predictable graphic icons, and all photo editing options were laid out on the bottom of the screen, fully enabling users to edit their photographs without anything getting in their way.
rePix is currently available for free through the iTunes store. As such, the value of this fun app is certainly stellar. Since users can unlock additional sticker packs through accumulating “likes” on social media photo sharing sites, the limits to this app are seemingly endless. However, it should be noted that users also have the option of purchasing sticker packages in rePix for $0.99 per package.
rePix iPhone app requires iOS 5.0 or later and is compatible with iPhone, iPod Touch, and iPad. A small expedite fee was paid to speed up the publication of this review.
