My Virtual Boyfriend: Written & Video iPhone App Review
On the tail of the quite popular, three-dimensional, Sims-style, faux dating experience of My Virtual Girlfriend, the folks at WET Productions have a new title, designed for those of us who are interested in dating the male specimen. This title is aptly named My Virtual Boyfriend, and it boasts hours of gameplay fun and a nearly endless array of fellas.
As the title and the app’s heritage might suggest, My Virtual Boyfriend is a virtual dating application. You fill out pertinent information about yourself and what you’re looking for in a potential boyfriend, and the app pumps out a ton of dating choices.
Pulling from some pretty typical and occasional hilarious archetypes, you can date the bad boy, the nice guy, the metrosexual, the geek, and there’s even an option for zombie boyfriends (I know! So exciting!). You can adjust your dream dude however you’d like, customizing his hair, face, outfit and even skin tone.
As you play, you’ll interact with your 3-D date by going out, chatting, flirting, and even physically poking, prodding and slapping. As you earn points, you’ll get closer and level up. This may not be the right game for a 10 year old, but it will provide hours of idle amusement to ladies of all adult ages.
Layout & Design:
There are some relatively impressive three-dimensional features to My Virtual Boyfriend for iOS. You can zoom, spin and get a full 360 look at his sweet rear end if you so desire. The variety of styles and details, like facial features, hair and clothing is also pretty cool.
Think Sims. Some of the locations and transitions aren’t the smoothest, but all in all there’s a pretty high level of sophistication in the design of My Virtual Boyfriend. I don’t have many complaints, but did find myself wishing maybe for different body type options and clearer text on the pages that feature it.
Overall Value: [Ratin:4/5]
For just $.99 you can download My Virtual Boyfriend (which is universal, huzzah!) and dig in to the hours of virtual dating fun this app has to offer. There is a lot of action for the low price, but it does seem to drag a bit, especially in the beginning. Maybe I just didn’t pick a fast fella (that’s what I get for dating a virtual geek!) but, either way, this app provides plenty of fun for a super low price and is worth taking a gander at, whether you’re looking for a laugh or just a dating dry run.
My Virtual Boyfriend iPhone app requires iOS 4.3 or later and is compatible with iPhone, iPod touch and iPad. A small expedite fee was paid to speed up the publication of this review, as well as a video production fee.
