Zoobe Cam: Written iPhone App Review
Zoobe Cam by Zoobe Message Entertainment provides consumers with a fun, quirky way to deliver personalized animated messages to their friends and family. Zoobe Cam features cute little animated characters that can be combined with user’s own photos and audio messages in order to create these one-of-a-kind greetings.
Zoobe Cam users get to choose from a variety of cartoon characters when they are creating their personalized message. Currently both a cat, rabbit, and bear are available, along with various outfits options for each character; additionally, a pig character is soon to be introduced to Zoobe Cam. Once a “messenger” has been selected, Zoobe Cam users then can take a picture to use as the background to the message, as well as record an audio message for the chosen messenger to repeat. Zoobe Cam then generates a quick video message that incorporates the chosen cartoon character, photograph, and audio message. The chosen emotion animation for each cartoon character is also incorporated into every Zoobe Cam message; namely, users choose the emotion that best suites their message (sad, happy, sorry, etc.) Once the Zoobe video has been generated, users can choose to either send out the video automatically (an option that includes the ability to send it to Facebook or YouTube) or to save the video for later use.
Appearance and Layout:
The layout of Zoobe Cam is mostly straight forward. Users are guided in a step-by-step process to create a Zoobe Cam video, and each step is presented by itself until the final video has been generated. Additionally, as a whole, the graphics of Zoobe Cam are satisfactory; each animated character is detailed enough to be visually pleasing but not too detailed so that the overall tone of the app would seem too serious. However, I felt that the animations for some of the differentiations between chosen character emotions were not made to be as distinct as they could be. For instance, the differences between fairly drastic emotional differences (such as “happy” and “sorry”) could have been made to be more drastic and less subtle.
Available for free, Zoobe Cam costs nothing more than the memory space it takes up on your iOS device. As such, this fun app can be considered to be well “worth it.” However, unless you’re particularly fond of creating animated messages featuring cuddling creatures, Zoobe Cam is most likely an app that will be installed, enjoyed for a period of time, and then uninstalled in order to make room for other, less specified apps.
Zoobe Cam iPhone app requires iOS 5.0 or later and is compatible with iPhone, iPod Touch, and iPad. A small expedite fee was paid to speed up the publication of this review.
