Let’s Date: Written iPhone App Review

Are you tired of spending hours filling out profiles, surveys, and questionnaires? Sick of being contacted by dating site creepers? Looking for a simple and straightforward app that lets you meet new people right from your phone?

Let’s Date, developed by Saturn5 Technology, Inc., cuts all of the fluffy-bunny junk from the usual online dating scene. This is a welcomed change from what we normally see with major dating services.

Concept and Functionality:

Let’s Date sports a sleek and modern design which is very simple to navigate. It doesn’t have a bunch of complicated menus or features which take an eternity to figure out.

The whole idea of Let’s Date is to introduce you to as many people in your city as possible. This is achieved by linking your Facebook account with the app, which pulls all of your information and creates a profile for you. That right there is usually an hour’s worth of work on normal sites.

Once you’re logged in and your dating card (profile) is generated, you can view the cards of others in your area. Each card shows a picture, location, and five adjectives used to describe the person.

See someone you’re interested in? All you have to do is press the “Let’s Date” button at the bottom of the screen. The lucky ducky you’ve taken a fancy to will then be notified that they have a new admirer. Your profile card will then be moved to the top of their list and if they are interested in you, it’s time to set up a date.

Now you’re thinking “Oh great… now we have to find a place to meet. We’ll never agree!” What if I told you Let’s Date takes care of that for you? The app takes the interests of both of you into account and recommends a meeting place. There’s even a chat window that appears so you can communicate with eachother and figure out details.

After the (hopefully) successful date, you can submit feedback about it and earn achievement badges. The iTunes description for Let’s Date refers to the app as the “Instagram of dating”, but it feels more like a mix of Instagram and Foursquare.

Let’s Date offers the option to not only browse through profiles of people in your area, but easily sets up a date. This is definitely an advantage for people who are worried about agreeing on the same place to meet.

Worried about creepers? Let’s Date only allows people who have a Facebook account which is older than 6 months to use the app. You also must have more than 50 friends. While this is great for those of you who are social butterflies, people who don’t use Facebook as their main social media outlet will be left in the dark.

Currently Let’s Date is only available in San Francisco, Los Angeles, New York, Austin, and London. The app says it’s actively expanding, which would be excellent because current cities are highly limited.

If you’re lucky enough to be located in one of the cities which Let’s Date serves, I definitely encourage you to give the app a try. It seems like the developers have taken necessary steps to ensure your privacy, but if you’re using a service like Facebook you have to expect that your personal information will get out in the world one way or another.

Let’s Date is compatible with iPhone, iPod touch, and iPad. Requires iOS 5.0 or later. This app is optimized for iPhone 5.

Love it, when it lets me use it. I have an iPod and everytime I try to load it, the app closes?
