Here at the iPhone App Review we love games on the iPad. When Last Temple HD (featured in the New & Noteworthy section of the App Store) hit the app market, we were addicted. Now, Ganymede, the makers of Last Temple HD have released Last Temple 2, and we are ecstatic to review it. The app comes loaded with levels that prove more challenging than the last, beautiful 3D-rendered graphics, and is addictive enough to keep you coming back for more! Head on down below to see our full review!

Concept and Gameplay [Rating: 5/5]

Last Temple 2’s gameplay is all about turning every hexagonal tile on the board blue. Each tile has a special gem on it. Drawing a line between adjacent tiles with matching gems will turn them blue. As you progress through levels, the layouts of tiles become more difficult, and a variety of obstacles are introduced that make it harder to claim or keep tiles. One, two, or three stars are awarded based on the amount of time it takes to complete each level.

The gameplay is fast-paced, challenging, and extremely addictive. The app’s obstacles are especially impressive. Occasionally an insect or two will slide onto the board and occupy one tile, which can no longer be used by the player. There are a few different types of insects that interact with the board differently, and they all add a bit of a nail-biting to the experience. Some of the levels seem almost impossibly difficult with their layouts and the obstacles attached, and some of the time expectations for certain star-rankings are very short. This, I feel adds to the challenge, but can be quite frustrating.

Graphics and Design [Rating: 5/5]

Last Temple 2 is simply beautiful on the iPad. The 3D-rendered graphics make for a unique experience, even on the menu screen. The amount of detail in the graphics in the app is very obvious and makes for a uniform feel across the app, even when the tile sets change across the many levels. Last Temple 2 comes packed with 200 unique levels, and is sure to have more added with future updates.

Overall Value [Rating: 5/5]

Last Temple 2 is fantastic! A definite 5 out of 5! Let me swing it to you this way: it was pretty hard to pull myself away from the game for long enough to write this review. It’s really hard to stop playing, and at $0.99 it’s a steal! If you loved Last Temple HD or are just looking for a new game to really pull you in, Last Temple 2 is the one.

Last Temple 2Last Temple 2 requires iOS 5.1 or later and is compatible with iPhone, iPad, and iPod Touch. A small expedite fee was paid by the developer to speed up the publication of this review.
