WordsWorth: Written iPhone App Review
Are you a lover of words? Looking for a fun and challenging way to learn new vocabulary? Then the WordsWorth app from developer 99Games Online Private Limited is just the app for you! It is compatible with iPhone, iPod touch, and iPad, and runs on iOS 4.3 or later.
Basically, WordsWorth is a true game of words. You can choose to play the game via single player mode, or multiplayer mode against your friends and family via Facebook. The single player mode also offers 3 different game play styles: “Classic”, “Timed”, and “Tumble”.
The main gist of the game is to locate the highest point earning word possible. Words with more dots equal more points for you. You will be presented with various grids (you can choose from 5×5, 6×6, 7×7, and 8×8 size grids) with random letters across the board. From there seek out the completely legitimate word that can earn you the most points. Simply start with the first letter of the word and drag your finger across the entire length of the word that you see. As you go along you will also unlock various “power ups” that will help you in your word quest. These various “power ups” include: “Finder” which assists you in finding the best point earning word in the grid for you, the “Replacer” which replaces all occurrences of a specific letter with another letter of your liking, the “Resetter” which resets any “Timed Tile” clock timer back to the start, and the “Reviver” which allows you to pick up the game again from the point where the game was last over.
The neat thing is whenever you come a cross a word you or your opponent may have formed that you are not too familiar with, the app allows you to check on the definition of that word.
Appearance and Layout:
The overall graphics of WordsWorth are pretty decent. Andy images or background graphics are even laid out providing a clean and inviting look. Word completion action is smooth, and navigation is a breeze. The layout is relatively simple and easy to figure out.
The background sound effects actually enhance the game play, and are non-distracting.
For WordsWorth being offered for $1.99 is an average deal. Most game apps available in the market today are either offer for free or around 99 cents, so this app’s price is pushing it a bit. However, if you are a lover of words then this app might be considered worth the price to you. Considering that it has infinite game play, and it has beneficial aspects such as it being a vocabulary builder and a word enhancer, then this game does have a lot to offer on its plate.
WordsWorth iPhone app requires iOS 4.3 or later and is compatible with iPhone, iPod touch, and iPad. A small expedite fee was paid by the developer to speed up the publication of this review.
