Physics-based gameplay has had us all entranced for years now. But rarely have I seen a physics-based title with as much beauty as Magic Forest Pro from the folks at Ola Games. In this game you’ll guide lovely little critters to their homes. Master the powers of the physical universe, and you too call be master of the Magic Forest.

As I mentioned, the name of the game in Magic Forest Pro is physics.  You’ll use gravity to guide you as you strategically remove blocks, boulders, jellies and more. As for the pets, their job is to fall. And fall they will, but guided by your steady hand as you create safe pathways home.

There are 80 levels in this game, broken into five distinct zones with 16 levels each. From the first instant you start this game, you’ll be thrilled by the highly stylized look. It’s like stepping into a children’s story book forest and getting to play there. But more about the look after the cut.

Game-wise, Magic Forest Pro isn’t horribly original. You pop balloons, destroy blocks and cute little animals fall, either to their doom or to their home. Still, this gaming theme is done quite well here, and there is plenty of variety and interest, such as portals, balloons and more, to keep the game as smart as it is beautiful. While the game does link in to Game Center, I did not see any of the achievements mentioned in the app’s description, which I found a bit disappointing.

In case my earlier aside didn’t tip you off, I am seriously in love with how Magic Forest Pro looks. It’s delightful, original and feels hand-illustrated. Each game zone has its own special look and feel you’re sure to love.

This pro version is truly universal, which means it plays like a dream on my iPad, and looks absolutely stunning doing so. I did not experience any fumbles or issues with the app. It played perfectly, a sign of true craftsmanship on the iPad.

Overall Value:

At the time of this review, the Magic Forest Pro app for iPhone, iPod touch and iPad costs a measly $.99. What I’m saying is, there’s no reason to avoid this game. It’s beautiful, smart and a lot of fun. I found myself entirely drawn in and enjoying the gaming experience, partially because I just had to know what the next zone was going to look like.

In other words, go get this app. If you love it half as much as I did, you’ll more than get your money’s worth out of this title.
