LifeLine Response: Written iPhone App Review
Here at the iPhone App Review, we are constantly talking about applications that have the potential to save or improve lives. However, we very rarely get a look at an app that does this quite as expressly as LifeLine Response by developer Clandestine. The app has the potential to be a true saving grace in a bad situation, providing the user with a way out of harm’s way in a pinch. Furthermore, it’s also wicked quick to setup and cost efficient. For our full review, you need only to scroll on down below the break!
Concept and Functionality
The basic idea behind LifeLine Response goes something like this: The app serves as a constant connection to the developers response and alert hotline. If your phone is triggered in certain ways (more on this in a bit) then the fine folks at the response center will ring you up to ensure everything is alright. If you don’t pick up, the connection is lost, or you automatically send the phone into this state, the response team will get the local authorities to you within minutes. The app and its team will even send out alerts to your specified contacts, setting up a web portal for them to view your last and known whereabouts.
It’s a fantastic way to feel safer during a scary situation, no matter what that might be. Furthermore, it’s not as hard as you might think to be prepared. The app comes with two modes to protect yourself. One has you simply putting a finger on the screen. If you take it off, the app gives you twenty seconds to disarm the alarm before DEFCON 1 is called. Additionally, you an also set a timer for your jog, walk to work, etc. If you don’t disarm the alarm before then, the same results happen. All in all, the app meets your daily life where it is, making it that much stronger.
Design and Interface
Best of all, the application is solid as a rock, too. The interface has been streamlined from the top down, and the end result shines with a wealth of professional polish. The setup process takes very little time at all, and guides the user throughout—this is really quite appreciated. Furthermore, there’s no complex arrangement with the call center. You put in some basic information, specify a disarm code, and then the app will do all the dirty work. This is phenomenally basic, and makes for a pleasant experience, especially if you’re worried for your safety.
For three bucks in the App Store you can win yourself a 45-day free trial of the app. If you’re traveling abroad in a scary place, this is about the perfect amount of time to get used to the app and try its features. If you’d like to extend your praetorship with the app, you can pay as little as $21.99 in-app for a full year’s subscription. It might seem pricy, but then again, considering the app is all-but guaranteeing your safety in most every situation, that to us is worth the cost.
LifeLine Response requires iOS 4.1 or later and is compatible with iPhone, iPad, and iPod Touch. A small expedite fee was paid by the developer to speed up the publication of this review.
