If you’re like us, you have a really terrible time trying to remember dates. In fact, if you’re exactly like us, you’re just about hopeless when it comes to keeping those important birthdays in order. As such, we’re more than tickled to be introducing you today to Birthdays for iPhone by developer Tanmay Sonawane. The app makes it incredibly easy to remember the birthdays of your friends, family members, and even acquaintances. Best of all, you don’t even have to lift a finger to get the job done! For our full review, you need only to slide on down below the break.

Concept and Functionality

The idea behind Birthdays looks something like this: You have Facebook friends, right? And all of those friends have a birthday left lying around on their profile page. As such, how great would it be if you could use an iPhone app to collect all of that data, slam it up into a single database, and then access it whenever you like? Essentially, this is what Birthdays for iPhone does.

The app attaches itself to your Facebook account, and then scans for the birth dates. It then adds each date to that friend, pools it all together, and lists the whole thing out alphabetically for you to look through. It will also automatically setup alerts for birthdays contained within the app: This means with the touch of a button, you’ll receive instant alerts when it’s a friend’s birthday. You can even add birthdays to your calendar by just tapping an entry within the app. Need to find a specific friend? Use the search bar to quickly locate them. All in all, it’s a world of effortless functionality that we didn’t even know we needed until we found it.

Graphics and Design

Even better still, Birthdays actually looks fantastic on the iPhone. With simple Facebook utilities like Birthdays, we weren’t expecting much, but we’re pleasantly surprised to find a whopper here. The design comes with full Retina Display support, which is incredibly good looking. Furthermore, the smooth scrolling and paper-peel interface elements make the entire experience a chipper one. Lastly, the menu list itself is easy to navigate, and we had no problem finding the information we needed—and quickly, at that. Overall, the design is incredibly solid, and the looks are much more than adequate.

Overall Value

We’ll put it to you this way: If you have ever wanted an app to manage your birthdays—either for friends or for family—this is the one to go with. Birthdays for iPhone will only cost you a dollar in the App Store, which is a tremendous bargain. The app is gorgeous, fits comfortably into your lifestyle and your pocket, and will hardly cost you a fortune. All in all, this makes it the ideal candidate for those in need.

Birthdays for iPhoneBirthdays for iPhone requires iOS 4.3 or later and is compatible with iPhone, iPad, and iPod Touch. A small expedite fee was paid by the developer to speed up the publication of this review.
