Save Fuel: Written iPhone App Review
When it comes to maximizing the miles per gallon your car obtains on the road—or even just ensuring it’s at maximum efficiency—there are a lot of variables to be considered. Everything from driving style to tyre pressure to the rest must be held against the wall. However, with Save Fuel by developer Lanxess, the entire procedure just got a little bit easier. This brilliant little iPhone app asks you, the motorist, a few basic questions, and in return gives you money saving suggestions on how to drive smarter. And for our full review, you need only to slide on down below the break!
Concept and Functionality
At the core of its design, Save Fuel is all about those tires. The application wants to ensure you understand the varieties of EU certified tyre grades that have emerged, as well as what you stand to gain by using certain grades. To do so, the app beings by asking you just a few simple questions about your driving habits, including how far you drive, how heavy your fuel consumption is, etc. Afterwards, it shows you how much you stand to gain by using a specific tyre grade. Still not convinced you need that new bit of rubber? The app will then show you how long it will take before the tyre has paid for itself. It’s that quick, that simple, and that effective.
However, just because you can discover in all of thirty seconds how much money new tires will save you, doesn’t mean you’re finished with the app! It then goes on to probe you for a few more driving answers. This information is churned through the app, and the results are some quality suggestions on how much your tires should be pressurized, how you should be driving, and what sort of roads you should drive on. The end result is a world of savings from the tyre to the petrol.
Design and Graphics
We have to admit, Save Fuel looks rather gorgeous on the iPhone, too. You’ll not find fancy Web 2.0 buttons here, but instead a slick, sleek and simplistic interface. The app’s dropdown menus make it easy to input the information you need to obtain your savings. Furthermore, we had no problems navigating the channels the app presents. In other words, it’s an app so easy even your Gran could use it—and likely save some money, too!
We’ll pitch the app to you this way: It’s completely free in the UK App Store, which means you’ll not even pay a pence to enjoy the benefits of what Save Fuel has to offer. If you’ve ever wondered how to improve the fuel efficiency of your car, or just want an overview of what tyre you should be buying, the app is the ideal solution. Save Fuel comes recommended, and is a brilliant way to be a better motorist.
Save Fuel requires iOS 4.0 or later and is compatible with iPhone, iPad, and iPod Touch. A small expedite fee was paid by the developer to speed up the publication of this review.
