NoteLedge: iPhone Video App Review
One part creative, sketchbook style diary, two parts epic, multimedia-happy planner, the newly updated NoteLedge iPhone app is a unique title with endless possibilities, and it comes to us courtesy of our friends at Kdan Mobile Software LTD. This developer knows how to make an app that’s all inclusive, so let’s see how those mobile productivity functions translate to their latest updated title.
The NoteLedge iPhone app is all about recording. And while the app does support recording audio, video and photos, it’s more about creating a record of your travels, adventures and day-to-day fun in a cool new way.
Are you the kind of person who desperately needs a place to collect those random thoughts that come to you on-the-go? NoteLedge is for you. Are you into sketching on your iPhone, creating beautiful sketch-book style art and notes? NoteLedge has you covered. Even someone just looking for a day planner will get a lot out of this sleek, stylish app.
This app is so full of features, it would be difficult to list them all. But the tops for me included the app’s ability to plug into cloud servers for backup and sharing, export options to Facebook and Twitter and some of the sweet photo editing and audio recording tools that are built right in.
Layout & Design:
I often find that no matter how well made an app is, it’s useless unless that app is easy to use. In the NoteLedge iPhone app’s case the app is obviously super well-made, and it possesses an extremely clear and detailed “How To?” section that makes using even the most advanced features of this app a snap.
Since there are so many different options and tools tucked into this app, I definitely suggest taking a look at the help file, otherwise you might miss the cool filters you can use to change photo effects or the cloud sharing services. Even with the help file it took me a while to figure out how to adjust the size and opacity of the sketch input, so there could definitely be some added clarity.
Yes, the NoteLedge iPhone app is complex, but the devs do a stupendous job of breaking down the app’s features in a clear, logical way, saving this app from a slightly harsh UI critique.
While I do appreciate the awesome feature set and complex but easily understood UI, I find myself questioning the usefulness of the NoteLedge as an iPhone app. I did run in to the occasional force close with the app (this was a very minimal concern). Without a close zoom feature, I think taking notes and sketching on the iPhone’s small screen is far from ideal.
Thankfully, there is an iPad version of this app. Check out our reviews of the original and updated versions, and definitely keep NoteLedge in mind if you’re looking for an app to help you get creative and organized on your iPhone.
NoteLedge iPhone app requires iOS 4.0 or later and is compatible with iPhone, iPod touch and iPad. A small expedite fee was paid by the developer to speed up the publication of this review.
