Lullaby Me: Written and Video iPhone App Review
We mention this a lot, but one of the absolute coolest aspects of the iPhone is the fact that it’s so dang powerful when it comes to educating our children, or improving their lives in some fashion or another. Today’s example is a wonderful one: It comes in the form of Lullaby Me by developer Street Art Advertising. The app makes it simple and effective to soothe your child to sleep using a variety of real lullabies, soft sounds, or orchestral arrangements. Best of all, it’s a pretty slick deal, too. And for our full review, you need only to slide on down below the break!
Concept and Functionality
The idea behind Lullaby Me is fairly simple, even if we haven’t seen it reproduced elsewhere in the App Store. Essentially, the app serves as a repository of lullabies for your child, allowing you to play back a song each night to soothe your child to sleep. The app even comes with a playback timer, allowing you to block off anywhere from five to infinity minutes of music. This particular feature is one we appreciated a lot.
The second most appreciated aspect, however, is the fact that Lullaby Me comes with so much music. The app has 21 musical lullabies, 12 professional sung offerings, and a whopping 10 relaxing sounds. You can even record your own lullabies if you’d prefer your child went to sleep to your own voice—or instrument, we suppose. All in all, it’s a wonderfully rich environment, and a package that we have no doubts will help get your child to dreamland and back again.
Graphics and Design
Best of all, the app looks rather tasty on the iPhone, too. It’s got an interface that’s decidedly soft and warm, but we hardly think this is a bad thing. In fact, we greatly appreciated the comforting corners and vibrant colors. Furthermore, the interface itself is extremely easy to navigate, and we could’t be happier with the playback. We can’t even complain about the number of included tracks, as there’s certainly enough content to keep your child entertained until (quite likely) a period when they no longer need a lullaby. All in all, it’s clear to us that Lullaby Me has been thought about a lot, and the end result shines with real, professional polish.
And at the end of the day, Lullaby Me is a tremendous value, as well. The app costs only a dollar in the App Store, making it a great purchase for any concerned parent who wants to leave their child with a bit of soothing music before bed each night. The interface is smashing, the music is even better, and the end result is an app that’s cheap on the wallet and effective in practice. And in our eyes, it just doesn’t get any better than that.
Lullaby Me requires iOS 4.3 or later and is compatible with iPhone, iPad, and iPod Touch. A small expedite fee was paid by the developer to speed up the publication of this review.
