Tweet Category: Written iPad App Review
If you’re looking for a truly convenient way to categorize your tweets, create new ones, and manage it all in real-time on your iPad, you’re largely out of luck. However, thanks to the invention of Tweet Category by the developer of the same name, you’re now one step closer to getting the job done. The application makes it simple and effective to mangle your tweets into place. It’s not the prettiest of apps, and we have our complaints with it, but on the whole, it’s a huge leap forward for social media management for iOS.
Concept and Functionality
The idea behind Tweet Category is pretty simple. How much more effective would it be for you and your social media marketing campaign to have an application that automatically categorizes and sorts your twitter feeds and tweets? In this way, you can filter out the “noise” attached to your hashtag campaigns, remove check-ins and promotions, and even yank out photos and links. This makes it that much easier to focus on the actual social conversation, rather than the spam bots and retweeters.
The app also allows you to do a wealth of other tweet management functions. For instance, you can very quickly setup automatic tweets to keep to your schedule. You can also receive information about the success or response to your tweets via an entire host of statistical data and analytical tools. Best of all, you can even tweak each of the reporting categories to meet your specific criteria and needs. In this way, you’re prepared through Tweet Category to find the information that you need to take back to the presentation.
Design and Interface
Sadly, though we really loved the functionality that Tweet Category offers, we’re not so sold on the app’s interface. We had relatively few problems setting up the categories we needed, or even navigating the ones that exist natively. Furthermore, reporting is a fairly simplistic affair. However, we weren’t such fans of the gun-metal look of the app. It’s more Call of Duty than it is TweetBot, which is certainly an aesthetics complaint, but it does make a difference. The menus simply aren’t as fluid or professional looking as we’d like them to be for an app of this high of caliber. However, as future updates refine the functionality in regards to beauty, the app can only improve.
One thing we are happy about is that you get all this functionality in Tweet Category ffor just three bucks in the App Store. This is certainly not too much to ask for this app, you’ll get your money’s worth with Tweet Category. So, if you’re looking for a truly rock-solid way to mangle and manage your tweets, there’s hardly a better option for the iPad. (comments and rating updated due to price drop 12/21/12).
Tweet Category requires iOS 4.0 or later and is compatible with iPhone, iPad, and iPod Touch. A small expedite fee was paid by the developer to speed up the publication of this review.
