Task Radar: Written iPhone App Review

Over the years, we’ve had the opportunity to see quite a few productivity and task management applications for the iPhone. In fact, we’ve dipped our toes into almost all of them—at least we think so, anyway. However, we have never seen an application that performs quite the same way that Task Radar does. It’s easily one of the coolest application concepts we’ve seen in a while, and if you’re looking for a uniquely visual way to analyze and tab your daily todos, there’s no better way to go about it. For our full review of this productivity utility, you need only to slide on down below the break!

Concept and Functionality

Task Radar

Task Radar

First out of the box, it’s worth mentioning that Task Radar is very much a standard todo list style application. It comes with all of the basics that you would expect from it, including the option to add new items to your list, assign them a priority rating, and attach a deadline just to play it safe. All of this is nothing new, though, so what makes Task Radar worth looking into?

Coincidentally, the function that grabs us most is built right into the name of the app! You see, when you enter a new todo item, it’s automatically added right to the dashboard of the title. This dashboard is composed of a single radar screen that can be customized to show either 8 hours out, or 8 days out. All of your events are on the screen, in proximity to your current time. This is a brilliant idea, and as it’s incredibly simple to tap any of the dots for more information, we could’t be more stoked about the concept. There’s just something exciting about watching your events creep ever closer and closer that gets our goat.

Design and Layout

In contrast to this, the design of the app is rather lackluster. The radar itself is sporting and animated, which we liked immensely. However, everything else about the app is rather stock: You’ll find white fill-in forms and pinstripe backgrounds in abundance. This isn’t a bad thing, but Task Radar simply doesn’t have the pizazz that we’ve come to expect from a truly knockout productivity app. Still, everything works like a champ, and you’ll have absolutely no problems navigating its features, that’s for sure.

Overall Value

And at the end of the day, Task Radar is easily worth its weight in gold. It’s a unique concept that arrives with a simplistic and easy to wrangle interface. The functionality of this is infinitely useful, and if you’ve been waiting for a visual way to track your todos as they approach, this is by far the best way to go. Task Radar easily earns a solid rating from us, as well as our full recommendation.

Task Radar requires iOS 3.2 or later and is compatible with iPhone, iPad, and iPod Touch. A small expedite fee was paid by the developer to speed up the publication of this review.
