If you’re a longtime reader of The iPhone App Review, the name Kdan Mobile Software might just ring a bell. Around these parts, we know Kdan as a top-notch file manager app developer. And this week we had a chance to revisit an old favorite with some awesome new features. That’s right, PDF Reader – iPhone Edition is back on top, people. Read on to find out what the latest in mobile PDF management has to offer.

Reading, editing, annotating, sharing, sending, reinventing… the PDF Reader iPhone app does it all. It opens more file extensions than ever before, interfaces with new cloud services such as iCloud and Sugar Sync, and lets you do even more with a streamlined interface.

Color me impressed, folks. This app is even better than before.

If you’re new to the PDF Reader family, let me put your mind at ease. This app is all about making mobile files easier to access, update and share. Some of my favorite features include the app’s option to create PDFs from images, either previously captured or right from the app. I love the Wi-Fi file transfer feature, and the fact that PDF Reader lets you work with encrypted PDFs. If security’s a big concern, you can easily password protect PDF Reader in an editable file system that will work for everybody.

One of the top new features? The app now supports in-app dictionary look up. I’m also glad to see a direct link doc download option added to the fold. I could go on and on about this app. It’s intuitive, full of handy features you may not even realize you need but will be grateful for, and definitely priced to move.

Layout & Design:

Last time I looked at PDF Reader, I was a bit concerned by the app’s complex layout. New users may still want to peruse the app’s super helpful info section, but a streamlined design puts all of your docs in one handy place. I did occasionally find myself wishing it were easier to get back to the main menu when you are looking at a doc, but that’s a small concern.

An added bonus is that with this update you can manipulate hand written annotations and notes much more easily.

Overall Value:

Right now you can download PDF Reader for iPhone for $1.99. Considering how many options this app contains, how well built it is, how fast it is, and that it fills a gap in services on the iPhone business people and us every day folks are all going to enjoy… I’d say that’s a pretty sweet deal. PDF Reader iPhone Edition is the real deal folks. Get this app, up your mobile productivity. You’ll be happy that you did.
