Do you have an interest in photography? Looking for images that are more unique and entertaining? Then the Passer-By app from developer Royal AppBooks is the perfect app for you! It is compatible with iPhone 3GS, iPhone 4, iPhone 4S, iPod touch (3rd generation), iPod touch (4th generation) and iPad, and runs on iOS 4.0 or later.

The Passer-By app is basically a collection of photographs taken by photographer Tony Edenden. When the user initially loads the app, they are prompted with a main screen where a random picture is displayed and there is a heading stating that 1 of 159 pictures is currently being shown. There are two small icons located at the upper right hand corner of the app screen which allows the user to switch back and from slideshow viewing mode or thumbnail viewing mode. The first few slides contain a brief introduction of the photographer. Scrolling through the picture the user can see various random photos ranging from couple photos to amusing beach photos, and even contrasting juxtaposition photos. Please note that there is some mild nudity/adult related content in some of the photography.

Appearance and Layout:

Overall, the appearance of Passer-By is a monochromatic theme. All photos are black and white themed and the app bordering is of grayscale themed allowing the pictures to appear without distraction. The app is very simple to use and navigate since the pictures can be viewing by simply scrolling right to left, and if the user wants a close up view of a particular photo they can shake their device activating the photo to appear in widescreen mode. Since the app’s main purpose is to showcase an artist’s photography work, the user should have no problem figuring out the gist of the app and what it has to offer.

For being Passer-By offered for $3.99 is an okay deal. Yes, there are some interesting and not so average looking photos, but once the user has seen it all, then that is basically all there is to the app. It is a great app to pass the time and show to friends during boredom time periods, but otherwise its lifespan is short lived. Most people are not looking to spend $3.99 on a random app, but for those who take an interest in photography or enjoy viewing other people’s work, then this app might be considered worth the price.

Passer-By iPhone app requires iOS 4.0 or later and is compatible with iPhone 3GS, iPhone 4, iPhone 4S, iPod touch (3rd generation), iPod touch (4th generation) and iPad. A small expedite fee was paid by the developer to speed up the publication of this review. The iPhone app reviews rating: [Rating: 4/5]
