The goal of the game is to defeat the opposing kingdom. If your king gets hit or all of the people in your kingdom are lost then you lose the game. You have the choice to surrender your kingdom is the game situation looks bleak. Under the “Mode” option, there are several game options the user can choose from. They can choose from the “single player” mode where they are up against 1of 7 different computer opponents that have different skills. They can also play against another player otherwise known as “hotseat” or multiplayer mode. The user can also watch compute opponents battle it out.
When the user begins a game they choose from six different castles, each varying in cannon numbers, money amount, resources such as gunpowder and cannonballs, and population size. Appearance and Layout:
The great thing about this app version of Ballerburg is that it tries to stick with the retro style of the original game in appearance, sound, and game play style, and it does a pretty good job at doing so. App navigation may be a bit tricky to first time users, but after a few taps here and there and with the help of the in app game tutorial, the user should be able to figure out what to do fairly quickly.
For being offered for 99 cents, Ballerburg is a great deal. For retro game lovers, this app version will sure bring nostalgia, in a good way. Even new players will find the game unique and entertaining. Although younger users may find the app a bit confusing to play, those who played the original version should have no problem spending hours on end on this excellent version.
