5K Runner: iPhone App Written Review
When it comes to applications for iOS, nothing gets us all quite as excited as apps like 5K Runner by developer Heavy Duty Apps. The reason for this is simple: We like apps that enable us to live better, stay healthy, and generally improve ourselves using nothing but a bit of tenacity and a rock-solid touchscreen. In this case, 5K Runner enables you to better yourself by running a 5K from the ground up. Without any experience, you can go from flab to fit, and all thanks to this three buck wonder. Want more? Concept and Functionality
So how exactly does 5K Runner manage it? How does it take people who can’t even run a single kilometer, and then whip them into shape—so much so that they can easily run a 5K? Well, to begin with the app comes with a very set and predetermined schedule for you to follow. It gives you the exact times for how long you should stretch and rest before a run, as well as how long you should actually run during. Afterward, you’ll have a preset cool down time.
That’s it! That’s all the app does, and we cannot be more stoked about it. You see, running to get into shape isn’t all that complicated. It really does just need a basic guide like 5K Runner. However, the app comes with all the motivational tools you need to succeed. For instance, it will give you badges for achieving certain runs. It will also enable you to use a GPS tracker like Nike’s foot band. Or, you can just listen to music as you run, and 5K Runner will track your progress. All in all, it’s an absolutely fabulous app concept, and one that comes with the bite to backup the bark.
Design and Interface
We’re not even going to begin to say otherwise: 5K Runner looks gorgeous on the iPhone, and that’s it. Everything about it has been very well manicured to produce an air that’s pleasing, productive, and above all else, easy to use. In other words, it’s one of the best interface designs we’ve seen in a while, and it’s our job to look at these.
In the US App Store, the app will cost you $2.99 Now, before you think much more about that, consider this: How much is your personal health and satisfaction worth? How much would you pay to be fitter than you’ve been since you were a teenager, or to have the satisfaction of running a 5K? Would you pay three bucks? Of course you would! Which is why you should stop reading right now and grab the app. It’s solid iOS gold, and we cannot recommend it enough.
5K Runner requires iOS 4.0 or later and is compatible with iPhone, iPad, and iPod Touch. A small expedite fee was paid by the developer to speed up the publication of this review.
