Opus Domini Mobile Pro: iPhone App Video and Written Review
Are you looking for a full-featured planner and event organizer for use on both your iPhone and iPad? Do you want it to have every possible functionality that you could ever hope for, taking the basic idea of calendar keeping and pumping it full of steroids? If so, then you’re in luck: Opus Domini Mobile Pro by developer Piso 13 is a direct translation of the popular Mac OS X application for the iPhone and iPad, and it’s awesome. Sure, it’s bloated, big and has a learning curve: But if you’d like to know why we think it’s the only planner you’ll ever need, head on down below the break!
Concept and Functionality
As stated, Opus Domini Mobile Pro is a direct translation of the very popular Opus Domini for Mac application, which has been providing us dedicated with incredible planning potential for years now. The app on your iPhone and iPad does the same thing, though in a much smaller package.
First out of the box, you’ll get support for standard calendar stuff, like adding events and tasks based on time. That’s fairly basic, but you’ll also get iCloud support, to throw that into the pot. Then, you move onto the cooler stuff: There’s a weekly goals compass that helps you achieve social, spiritual, and emotional goals. There’s also just a goals tab, which lets you track (literally via a loading bar) your progress as you draw ever closer. Want more? Take some master tasks to keep you oriented, repeating tasks for easy management, daily notes to keep yourself organized, and even a bloody weather forecast so you don’t have to bother to look outside. Truly, Opus Domini Mobile Pro is an app that does it all.
Design and Graphics
Though we don’t like the look of Opus Domini Mobile Pro as much as we like the classically gorgeous desktop edition, it’s still a more-than solid production. You’ll get the same leathery theme, as well as a simple to navigate interface. Expect to spend a fair amount of time getting used to the way the app works, though: It’s not very complex, but there’s a lot of stuff to figure out eventually. If you get lost, the app offers help that will quickly get you on the right path. All in all, Opus Domini Mobile Pro is just as professional and just as polished as its predecessor.
The only caveat with Opus Domini Mobile Pro? It’s really expensive. For the solid price of ten bucks (as much as the computer edition) you can enjoy all that the app has to offer. It’s an hefty price tag, but keep in mind the sheer number of features and potential that you’re unlocking. This app means business, and the price is only further proof of that. If that sounds like a bargain, than Opus Domini Mobile Pro is still a steal.
Opus Domini Mobile Pro requires iOS 5.0 or later and is compatible with iPhone, iPad, and iPod Touch. A small expedite fee was paid by the developer to speed up the publication of this review.
