Monster Cube: iPhone Written App Review
Ahhhh! Monsters! Don’t be afraid. Three-D monster matching action just got a serious upgrade with the new Monster Cube iPhone app. This fast-paced matching game comes to us from MonsterJuice, and it’s packed with some seriously fun gaming features. Think you’ve got what it takes to reign supreme? Let’s see!
If you’ve played a mobile game in the past five years, you might be familiar with the concept of matching three or more of any object to clear it from a board. The Monster Cube iPhone app takes that basic concept then turns it on its head – literally. In Monster Cube it is your job to rearrange the monster blocks in one three-dimensional cube into groups of three or more. Only then will those blocks burst free from their 3D prisons, allowing you to keep demolishing the block as quickly as possible.
Each round of gameplay is 1 minute and 5 seconds. The higher the number of blocks you match at once the cooler the combos, point boosts and fever modes you’ll enter. There are dozens of missions and goals to complete, and the app even offers social gamers an option to plug right into Facebook for high score logging and bragging rights. Or, if you’re like me and you’d rather not game with the public, you can do so by choosing the Play Offline option. Easy peasy.
Layout & Design:
The user interface and design features of the Monster Cube iPhone app are sleek, interesting and amusing. The game blocks themselves are little works of art, and navigating to the game, viewing your score and accomplishments, and even pausing the app, is all quite simple, while maintaining a high level of design work that we expect out of top apps. All I can say is, well done.
It does take a little time to get used to the scrolling, 3D block solving. But once you’ve got that down, this game is a ton of fun. So, new gamers, don’t give up.
The Monster Cube iPhone app is entirely free to download and play. But if you fall in love with this title, and odds are, you’re going to fall hard, you can unlock more missions and help yourself reach even higher scores by making a small in-app purchase of $.99. Even if the app was $.99 on its own, I think the endless fun and cool social features of this app make it a top contender, and well worth the small investment in your gaming happiness.
The bottom line? Go check out Monster Cube. You’ll be glad you did.
Monster Cube iPhone app requires iOS 4.0 or later and is compatible with iPhone, iPod touch and iPad. A small expedite fee was paid by the developer to speed up the publication of this review.
