iPadellino: iPhone Written App Review
Do you fancy yourself a chef? Or maybe you think your reflexes are lightening quick? It’s time to find out. The new iPadellino iPhone app from Federico Bruni and BBLab is a chef-themed game that takes you and your reflexes around the world.
In iPadellino, your job is to collect eggs that fall from the sky at a rapid pace, all while racing the clock. You begin your competition in Egypt, tilting your iPhone to and fro to catch the falling eggs. It may sound easy, but there is a certain amount of skill and strategy needed to get ahead with this game. Catching a certain percentage of eggs unlocks your next world destination, and so on. That’s how you can climb your way to the top of the heap in this fast-paced game of egg catching competition.
The iPadellino iPhone app has a tutorial section and a basic instruction area. It also connects you to Game Center so you can keep track of top scores from around the world, and track your progress with the built in achievements. Catch eggs in combos, get bonuses, super eggs and more.
But don’t think this game is a walk in the park. Getting good at iPadellino takes some serious time. I think this is another case of developers being really good at a game, and forgetting that newcomers might not be as skilled right off the bat. I would like it if the first level was a bit easier, or if the app had some sensitivity control options to make being good at this fast paced cooking game easier.
Layout & Design:
I’m a big fan of the world motif in iPadellino. Each playing level looks different, based on your location on the global game board. The app has bright, colorful graphics, and even different pans. It’s all in a pleasing cartoon-style that’s quit satisfying.
I did find the graphics sometimes made it difficult to see where the eggs were going to fall, and suggest the app’s designer take that into consideration to make gameplay more enjoyable.
With a lean mean price tag of just $.99, the iPadellino iPhone app is priced to move. Sure, the app could use a bit of tweaking, but I think this game is an incredible value, and a lot of fun. If you’re interested in testing your reflexes or have a thing for food-themed games, you have to check out iPadellino.
iPadellino iPhone app requires iOS 4.0 or later and is compatible with iPhone, iPod touch and iPad. A small expedite fee was paid by the developer to speed up the publication of this review.
