We travel a lot. Typically we tend to do this for business reasons, but that’s not to say that we never get a chance to have a nice vacation. And when we do travel for pleasure, we make sure to save money on all of the touristy things that we do. Now, thanks to Go Select Passes by developer Smart Destinations, that task just got a little bit easier. The app makes it simple and efficient to find good deals on tours and attractions in a number of big cities. Best of all, the app itself is completely free in the App Store! So if your interest has been piqued, you can scroll on below the break to find our full review and thoughts. Starting with:

Concept and Functionality

The idea behind Go Select Passes is simple, but really quite incredible in what it means for you and your travels. Essentially, the app serves as a compendium of information, data, rates, hours, and other information about popular attractions and tours within major cities in the United States. You can select the city you’re planning to visit, and then immediately be served an healthy list of places to visit and things to do.

Want to actually go visit these places on your list? With Go Select Passes, it’s a simple process. Just hit “Add to Pass” to instantly add that location to your checkout cart. Keep going until you’ve hit all of the places you want to visit, and then head to your shopping trolley to see how much you’re saving. You can pay within the app using either your Smart Destinations account, or a fresh one created in-app. All in all, it’s fast, simple and can potentially save you a heck of a lot of money.

Graphics and Interface

The app looks pretty good, too! We’re often quite prickly about what we call good design, but Go Select Passes hits all of our points on the head. The interface itself is easy enough to use, while all the functionality we expect is kept in-app. There’s no need to bounce back and forth between your mobile browser and the app to buy services: You can do it all under one roof, and without any additional hassle. And to us, that alone is worth a few design points. We would have liked, however, to see more cities, including metropolitan areas outside the United States—London calling, anyone?

Overall Value

When it comes to value, we can hardly argue with what Go Select Passes is sporting. It’s free in the App Store, and though you’ll have to pay for the attractions you book, there are no other additional charges. You’ll also save quite a bit on the go, which is the whole intent behind Go Select Passes anyway. All in all, it’s a good looking app that saves money with no upfront costs. Sounds like a deal to us!

Go Select Passes for iPhoneGo Select Passes requires iOS 4.2 or later and is compatible with iPhone, iPad, and iPod Touch. A small expedite fee was paid by the developer to speed up the publication of this review.
