Who Touched My Phone: iPhone Written App Review
Worried about snoopers peeking at your iPhone when you’re not around? Now finding out who was looking, what time they looked and exactly where it happened is a snap, thanks to Who Touched My Phone. This app from App & Joy catches the culprits red handed. So next time you think someone’s been snooping on your iPhone, you can find out the details, no muss, no fuss.
As I mentioned, Who Touched My Phone allows you to catch nosey Nellys in the act. After a simple arming mechanism is enabled and the phone is locked, anyone who opens your iPhone will be caught with your device’s front facing camera. The app will also log their location, and the time they started snooping.
Worried about getting caught? Don’t be. The Who Touched My Phone iPhone app has an innocent looking app icon, and is sneakily labeled “Watch It.” And, if someone who’s snooping does actually open the app, it looks like a collection of links to online videos. How’s that for sneaky?
Of course, it’s not all fun and games. For one, the sound has to be off for it to really work, otherwise your snooper will hear the phone snapping pictures (whoops!). Also, when you unlock the phone yourself and use the handy double touch to turn Who Touched My Phone off, you’re probably going to get pictures of yourself doing so.
Also, the app’s really very simple. I wish it would take screen shots so you know what people are looking at while they snoop. I also wish the time lapse pics were time stamped, or that they automatically went to your email, although if the person using your phone is checking your email, it would mean the gig is up, so I understand the in-app photo logic.
Layout & Design:
Since the app is so mind numbingly simple to use (you literally just press a single red button, turn off your sound, lock the phone and you’re good to go) it has an extremely simple user interface. There aren’t really any settings to change or unlock. There’s only one option for how to unlock the app and turn the feature off.
I guess I just expected a bit more flash. However, the cover app is pretty impressive and detailed, so I’ve gotta give the folks at App & Joy some props for ingenuity.
This very simple app is currently on sale for $.99. According to the app description, the app is usually $2.99. I must not be paranoid enough, because I would not spend three bucks just to reverse snoop on my iPhone. However, if someone has a security risk, the price is definitely right at the moment. It’s very likely that peace of mind is worth a few dollars. After all, the app works very well.
Who Touched My Phone iPhone app requires iOS 4.0 or later and is compatible with iPhone, iPod touch and iPad. A small expedite fee was paid by the developer to speed up the publication of this review.
