Video Converter Ultimate: Mac App Written Review
Not that long ago we were stuck doing all kinds of video editing tasks in the basement of our University. Yes, we used to spend much more time than we’d like to admit doing such small things as batch converting massive amounts of film footage into much easier to manage file formats. As such, we can confidently say that our job would have been about ten times easier had we had Video Converter Ultimate by Wondershare at our disposal. This Mac App is one of the single greatest video converters we’ve ever seen. If you’re wondering why, don’t hesitate to head on down below the break to find out! Starting with:
Concept and Functionality
As you might rightly suspect from its name, Video Converter Ultimate is indeed an app designed to help you convert a whole roster of handy video file formats into something else. This is no small task, as the video editors amongst our readership will already know. For whatever reason, Apple is far too stingy with what it allows you to do with your videos. Thankfully, this app goes a long way toward helping us correct that.
For starters, it comes with the option to export to several different genres, such as video or solely audio. From there, it automatically detects data from your hard drive, any inserted discs, or even audio files left around. From there, you can export to just about any file format you can think of—to the editors, all the standards that you’re looking for are here in spades. Best of all, and we really like this, you can pause or start again any rendering process. We don’t know how many failed attempts at a render this would have saved us back in the day, and we love having it now.
Design and Interface
With an app like this (that you’ll be seeing daily if you work in the industry) we demand a very aesthetically pleasing and efficient interface. Thankfully, this one has it done and more. Video Converter Ultimate reminds us a lot of the old Toast Titanium, offering smooth corners, simple buttons, and handy start menus that keep everything you need close to the hip. We could go on about how graceful and elegant the whole setup looks, but at the end of the day, all you need to know is this: Video Converter Ultimate is an app you won’t mind getting acquainted with.
For the hobbyist, the $49/99 that Video Converter Ultimate costs will certainly be a turn off. It even is for us, but then again, you’ll get your money’s worth. Video Converter Ultimate is a graceful app that supports all the video formats you want, comes with a mountain of exporting options, and guarantees performance where you need it. If your office needs a new video converter, we honestly can’t think of a better way to go than with Video Converter Ultimate.
Video Converter Ultimate requires Mac OS 10.0 or later and is compatible with Macintosh. A small expedite fee was paid by the developer to speed up the publication of this review.
