Pass the Exam: iPhone App Written Review
Here at the iPhone App Review, one of our favorite things about iOS and the devices that run it is the way in which their synergy can influence and improve our daily lives. For instance, using nothing by Pass the Exam (developer Pass the Exam) and your iPhone, you could easily study for just about any uni test under the sun. It’s a brilliant little utility, and we have no idea how we got through our higher education without it. It’s not without its faults, but if you’re looking for a full review of Pass the Exam, you’ll find it locked away below beyond the break.
Concept and Functionality
Describing Pass the Exam takes surprisingly few words, as the app is more or less a souped up edition of flash cards. The user boots up the app, signs in with their account information (or registers if its your virginal run) and then goes straight to their exam folders. These folders can be edited and sorted, but most importantly, filled up with questions and answers. The app then takes these questions and responses, and immediately converts them into easy, breezy flashcards for the user to look through. The app comes with a couple different modes, including a training mode to help you get acquainted with the material, as well as several simulated exam modes. Best of all, taking an exam produces statistics on how you did that can be viewed at any point in time.
The app is pretty smooth, offering some continuity between desktop and mobile versions. We also think it has a lot of potential for teachers, as it can easily be given to their students for use on exams. Really, the educational possibilities are limitless for this beautiful utility.
Design and Interface
Still, as useful as Pass the Exam is, we do have some quibbles with the way it has been designed. We like the fact that we can integrate our account across both the web app and mobile app editions of Pass the Exam, however we weren’t such big fans of the disparity that lives there. We can import and export folders using numbered codes, but there’s no automatic syncing between our devices. This would easily take Pass the Exam to the next level, making it one of the best study tools out there at the moment.
Still, Pass the Exam is an undeniable bargain, offering a whole lot of customizable study potential for not a lot of money. No matter if you’re a student or a professor, we promise you’ll get a lot out of the app. And, if you decide to use the app to run an entire classroom, be sure to let us know! We’d love to hear how the experience worked or didn’t work for you and your team.
Pass the Exam requires iOS 4.0 or later and is compatible with iPhone, iPad, and iPod Touch. A small expedite fee was paid by the developer to speed up the publication of this review.
