NightTag: iPhone App Written and Video Review
Are you a clubber? Do you like going out to the trendiest places in town, the best spots for a dance and a beat? Do you wish you could share a piece of that action with the losers that are stuck at home on Facebook? If you answered yes to any of those (especially the last one) then pony up, Cowboy! We’ve got NightTag (Amsterdam Worldwide) in the wing today, and it’s going to party rock your socks off. For our full review of the application, you need only to scooby on down below the break.
Concept and Functionality
The idea behind NightTag is so simple that it’s even stuck right there in the name. Essentially, the app allows you to take a photo of your night, add a geo-tagged location, and even a track to go along with the listing. By hitting a single button you can show your friends through Facebook where you are, what’s going on, and what’s playing over the speakers. And all of this is done for you! Literally, you simply take a photo, and then NightTag does the rest. The app will listen to the track that’s blaring overhead, and will let you know what it is—this is very similar to Shazam. It will even get your current location: Though, you can turn this off if you’d rather not have people know where you are. Aside from this, you can also stream various Internet radio stations to your phone for a party of your own styling, or adjust your profile within the app to tweak the way you’re presented via your NightTag posts. It’s a slick package, and if you’re looking for an app that’s slightly more entertaining than FourSquare where location sharing is concerned, this is the one to go for.
Design and Interface
As much as we like the simplicity of the features themselves, we’re also big fans of the NightTag interface. It’s not the most luxurious UI we have ever seen, but on the whole, it has a lot to offer. It’s got a simple Plus Button to handle new post creation, which makes it easy to create a new status—even when intoxicated! We also liked how quick the listening software is. Overall, we also dug how the app ties directly into your Facebook information, making it unbelievably easy to work with.
And at the end of the day, NightTag is completely free in the App Store! That means you won’t have to pay a dime to enjoy all that it has to offer. Just hook up your Facebook account, and get to rolling! If you’re looking for a unique, simple, and fairly good-looking way to share your club dates with others through Facebook, we can hardly recommend anyone over what NightTag is doing.
NightTag requires iOS 4.0 or later and is compatible with iPhone, iPad, and iPod Touch. A small expedite fee was paid by the developer to speed up the publication of this review.
